Abstract
Description
【0001】
【0027】
例えば、設定ビーム数を「Beam_number」,間欠トラック数を「intermittent_number」,記録時の線速度を「v(m/s)」,ロック・タイムを「Lock_time(ms)」,実行ビーム数を「EffectiveBeam_number」とする。
【0029】
「Phase_intの場合」……
【0034】
「Phase_Aの場合」……
【0038】
「Phase_intの場合」
【0043】
「Phase_Aの場合」
【0055】

TECHNICAL FIELD OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to a method and an apparatus for recording information on an optical disk having a plurality of beams, and more particularly, to an improvement in an information recording method for shortening a recording time.
[0002]
[Prior art]
2. Description of the Related Art In an optical disk device having a plurality of beams, a method is used in which an optical head writes information on tracks of an optical disk while jumping tracks. FIG. 6 shows this state. In this example, the tracks are spirally formed, and the number of beams is three and the number of intermittent tracks is two. First, as shown in FIG. 7A, a beam B0 (circle mark) is assigned to the 0th track on the innermost circumference, a beam B1 (triangle mark) is assigned to the third track, and a beam B2 (square mark) is assigned to the sixth track. ) Is located. In the figure, black marks indicate the beam recording start position, and white marks indicate the current position of the base. When the optical disk rotates in the direction of the arrow FA, the beams B0 to B2 move on the tracks from the recording start position of the black mark to the position of the white mark, and record information on each track. When the optical disk rotates slightly less than three turns in the direction of arrow FA, the state shown in FIG. That is, the beam B0 approaches the recording start point of the beam B1, and the beam B1 approaches the recording start point of the beam B2.
[0003]
Then, when the optical disk rotates exactly three times, the beam B0 reaches the recording start point of the beam B1, and the beam B1 reaches the recording start point of the beam B2. Then, this time, the track jump of the optical head is performed, and the recording of the beam B0 starts from the recording end point of the beam B2. At this time, each beam cannot be recorded immediately after the track jump, and it is necessary to perform PLL lock and address decoding. That is, a required preparation time is required from the start of the track jump to the start of the recording of information. The position of the track jump is determined in consideration of the preparation time.
[0004]
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
By the way, in the above-mentioned prior art, since the following points are not sufficiently studied, there is an inconvenience that a theoretically conceivable recording speed of information cannot be obtained.
(1) Even if the recording after the track jump is performed, the beam B0 is as described above, but may the other beams B1 and B2 start recording simultaneously with the beam B0?
(2) When the capacity of information to be recorded is small, it may not be necessary to use all the beams. In such a case, how to estimate the optimal number of effective beams and allocate the information beam Do you do?
(3) An error may occur during recording of information. How do you recover in such a case?
[0005]
By devising a recording method in consideration of the above points, it is considered that the information recording speed can be improved without waste.
[0006]
The present invention, which focuses on the above points, provides an optical disk information recording method and an optical disk information recording method capable of shortening the recording time by eliminating wasteful information recording operation in an optical disk device having a plurality of beams. That is its purpose.
[0007]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
In order to achieve the above object, the present invention provides a method for recording information on an optical disk by using a plurality of beams, the amount of information to be recorded and the amount of information that the plurality of beams can record on the optical disk without performing a track jump. Referring to the number of execution beams for executing the recording of information, and then, based on the calculated number of execution beams, for each phase in which the plurality of beams record information on the optical disk without performing a track jump. Setting a phase start pointer indicating a recording start position, and further setting a beam allocation pointer indicating a position at which the plurality of beams start recording in the phase based on the calculated number of executed beams. Features.
[0008]
One of the main modes is characterized in that the processing of each step is performed separately in a phase in which information is recorded first and a phase in which the information is continued thereafter. Another embodiment is characterized in that the track jump of the light beam is performed in consideration of a preparation time from a track jump to address detection on a disk. Still another embodiment is characterized in that when an error occurs during recording of information, resetting is performed using the pointer.
[0009]
According to the present invention, a pointer indicating a recording start position for each phase and for each beam is set in the information to be recorded. By performing recording using a plurality of beams with reference to these pointers, it is possible to reduce the recording time without wasting the recording operation, and it is possible to perform high-speed recording.
[0010]
BEST MODE FOR CARRYING OUT THE INVENTION
Hereinafter, embodiments of the present invention will be described in detail. In the following description, it is assumed that an optical disk having a sector arrangement of a CLV (constant linear velocity) method is written in block units. FIG. 1 shows a main configuration of a three-beam recording apparatus according to the present embodiment. In FIG. 1, the

FIG. 3 shows a beam arrangement on an optical disc in the present embodiment. As shown in the figure, in the present embodiment, the set number of beams (the number of beams physically held as an apparatus) is “3”. The number of intermittent tracks indicating how many tracks each beam straddles is “2”. The position of each beam is represented by polar coordinates (r, θ), and the innermost beam is B0, the middle beam is B1R, and the outermost beam is B2. Then, any one of them is defined as a reference beam. In this example, the center B1R of the beams B0, B1R, and B2 is defined as a reference beam. Of the three beams, a beam that serves as a reference for track jump and is subjected to tracking servo first is a reference beam.
[0020]
Next, a method of recording user information on an optical disk by the above-described beam arrangement will be described with reference to FIG. In the figure, the vertical axis shows the track number where each of the beams B0, B1R, and B2 is located, and the horizontal axis shows the recording trajectory of each beam when the number of rotations of the optical disk is taken. As shown in the figure, when recording information for the first time, recording is started simultaneously for three beams. In the example shown in the figure, the beam B0 is on the track M, the beam B1R is on M + 3, and the beam B2 is on M + 6. Then, when the optical disk has rotated three times (when the horizontal axis has changed from N to N + 3), the recording operation of
[0021]
The next recording operation must be performed so that the beam B0 continues from the recording end point W1 of the beam B2, as described above. However, in order to start the recording operation using the beam B0, it is necessary to perform a track jump, pull-in in the
[0022]
Thereafter, the recording preparation is performed along with the rotation of the optical disk, and the recording is completed and the recording is enabled. At the time when the beam B0 becomes a position W2 continuous with the recording end point W1 of the beam B2, the recording of the information is started. Is done. The lock time is always learned and predicted by the lock time
[0023]
On the other hand, the beams B1R and B2 also make a track jump, and perform the recording preparation described above. However, unlike the beam B0, the beams B1R and B2 do not need to record continuously at the recording end point in the
[0024]
Next, in the present embodiment, the information is recorded on the optical disc by performing the track jump operation in the above-described procedure, and the pointer indicating the break of the information recorded in each phase is stored in the phase start
[0025]
Hereinafter, a method for setting these pointers and a method for obtaining the number of execution beams will be described. In this example, two types of pointers are set in the
[0026]
The information required for the above-mentioned pointer setting includes the arrangement of the three beams B0, B1R, and B2, the position of each of the beams, the rotation speed of the disk, and the lock time (the time required for track jump + the time required for PLL lock). (Time + address decoding time based on the wobble signal). The lock time is measured at the time of recording information, and the relationship between the number of rotations of the optical disc and this time is learned by a lock time learning / estimation program to estimate the optimal time.
[0027]
For example, the number of set beams is “Beam_number”, the number of intermittent tracks is “intermittent_number”, the linear velocity during recording is “v (m / s)”, the lock time is “Lock_time (ms)”, and the number of effective beams is “EffectiveBeam_number”. ". In an actual optical disk device, the beam side is fixed and the disk side rotates, but for convenience, it is assumed that the disk side is fixed and the beam side rotates while tracing a track on the disk side. The arrangement of the beams B0, B1R, B2 is as shown in FIG. Further, the beam interval is represented by “d (mm)”, the interval between the beam B0 and the beam B1R is represented by “d01”, and the interval between the beams B1R and B2 is represented by “d12”.
[0028]
<Phase Start Pointer Setting Procedure> In this case, the
[0029]
"In the case of Phase_int" ... The length of a track on which information can be recorded in this phase is represented by the following equation (1). The sum of the track lengths indicated by solid lines L00, L01, and L02 in FIG. 4 corresponds to the equation (1).
(Equation 1)
[0030]
In this equation (1), “r_start” represents the radius (recording start radius) of the recording start block of the first phase “Phase_int” on the disc, “pi” represents the pi, and “Track_Pitch” records. Indicates the track pitch according to the disc format. “R_base” indicates the radial position of the start block of the
[0031]
The various conditions are substituted into the above equation (1), and the maximum value of the effective beam number “EffectiveBeam_number” with respect to the set beam number is set so as to satisfy (residual recording length−recordable length) ≧ 0. Ask. The remaining recording length is obtained by removing the already recorded portion from the track length corresponding to the
[0032]
If a surplus occurs when the recordable track length is divided by the unit block length, it is moved up or down. Such processing is performed because information is recorded in block units. In this case, if the number of remaining blocks is smaller than the number of blocks moved up or down, this number of remaining blocks is used. For example, this corresponds to a case where information has already been recorded on an optical disc and the remaining recordable capacity is small.
[0033]
As described above, the recording end block number is determined from the recording start block number in the first phase “Phase_int”. The start pointer PF0 of the first phase is the start point of the
[0034]
"In the case of Phase_A" ... The length of a track on which information can be recorded in this phase is represented by the following equation (2). The sum of the track lengths indicated by the solid lines L10, L11, L12 in FIG. 4 corresponds to the equation (2).
(Equation 2)
[0035]
In addition to substituting various conditions into the equation (2), the maximum value of the number of effective beams is obtained within a set beam satisfying (residual recording length−recordable length) ≧ 0. Also in this case, as in the case of the first phase, the recordable length is divided by the length of one block, and if there is a remainder, the data is moved up or down. If the number of remaining blocks is smaller than the number of blocks moved up or down, the number of remaining blocks is used. By such an operation, the recording end block number of the current phase is determined from the recording start block number of the subsequent phase. As a result, the number of blocks recorded in the current phase is determined, and as a result, the recording start pointer PF2 in the next phase is determined. By repeating this operation, it is possible to sequentially determine the recording start pointer of the phase to be continued next.
[0036]
<Setting of beam allocation pointer> A description will be given of a procedure of setting a beam allocation pointer indicating which information is to be recorded by which beam in one phase. As a method of selecting the number of effective beams, two methods are conceivable as shown in FIGS. 5A and 5B. First, in the method shown in FIG. 2A, when two beams exist at the same radius with reference to the reference beam N (when there are a plurality of selectable beams), the beam outside the disk is given priority. It is a method of selecting. For example, when the number of effective beams is “2”, a beam N + 1 outside the reference beam N is selected. On the other hand, the method shown in FIG. 2B is a method of selecting the beam inside the disk with priority. For example, when the number of effective beams is “2”, the beam N−1 inside the reference beam N is selected. However, when the number of set beams is “3” and the number of intermittent tracks is “0”, only the method shown in FIG. This is because, unless the method (B) is used, writing and joining of information will not be successful. In the following description, it is assumed that the method shown in FIG.
[0037]
Among the beam allocation pointers set for allocating the area recordable in each phase of the
[0038]
"In the case of Phase_int"
(1) When the number of execution beams = 1, all information of the phase is written by the reference beam B1R. In this case, as the allocation pointer, only PB1 is set, and PB0 and PB2 are not set. The allocation pointer PB1 matches the position of the recording start pointer of the phase.
[0039]
(2) When the number of execution beams = 2, the outer beam is selected as shown in FIG. 5A, so that the reference beam B1R and the outer beam B2 are selected. Among these, the allocation pointer PB1 of the reference beam B1R matches the position of the recording start pointer of the phase. The block where the outer beam B2 starts recording is obtained from the following equation (3). It is convenient to prepare the calculation result of the equation (3) in advance as a table so that its polar coordinate value can be instantaneously known.
[Equation 3]
[0040]
From this value, the closest block in the delay direction on the time axis is set as a block to start recording with the beam B2. When the recording start block is specified, the recording start position of the beam B2 on the
[0041]
(3) When the number of executed beams = 3, when the beam B0 coincides with the recording start block of the phase, what polar coordinate positions of the beams B1R and B2 are obtained from the following equation (4). . In this case as well, it is convenient to prepare the calculation results as a table in advance and read them from now on.
(Equation 4)
[0042]
The closest blocks are detected in the time axis delay direction from the polar coordinate positions of the beams B1R and B2, respectively, and are set as recording start blocks of the beams B1R and B2, respectively. When the recording start block is specified, the recording start positions of the beams B1R and B2 on the
[0043]
"In the case of Phase_A"
(1) In the case where the number of execution beams = 1, the information of the current phase may be continuously recorded without performing a track jump with the beam in which the block whose recording has been completed in the previous phase is written. For example, when information is recorded by three beams in the previous phase, the information of the current phase may be continuously recorded by the outermost beam B2. Therefore, the allocation pointer sets the allocation pointer PB2 of the beam B2 at the position of the recording start pointer of the phase.
[0044]
(2) When the number of effective beams = 2, similarly, the reference beam B1R and the outer beam B2 are selected. The recording start block of these beams is based on the polar coordinate position (rbs, θbs) of the recording start block in the phase, and the reference beam position when the lock time elapses is determined with respect to this reference to obtain the beam B1R, The recording start block of B2 is specified. The polar coordinate positions of the beams B1R and B2 leading to the elapse of the lock time can be calculated by the following equation (5).
(Equation 5)
[0045]
The allocation pointer PB1 of the beam B1R is set to the position of the start block of the phase, that is, the position of the phase start pointer. On the other hand, the allocation pointer PB2 of the beam B2 is set to a position corresponding to a block that is delayed on the time axis closest to the polar coordinate position (r2, θ2). Since the beam B0 is not used, the allocation pointer PB0 is not set. In the example of FIG. 2, the portion after the recording start pointer PFm corresponds to the case where the number of effective beams = 2, and the allocation pointer PB1 of the beam B1R is the recording start pointer PFm.
[0046]
(3) When the number of execution beams = 3, similarly to the case where the number of execution beams = 2, the polar coordinate position (rbs, θbs) of the recording start block of the phase is used as a reference, and the lock The reference beam position at the elapse of time is obtained, and the recording start block of the beams B0, B1R, and B2 is specified. The polar coordinate positions of the beams B0, B1R, and B2 reaching the lock time can be calculated by the following equation (6).
(Equation 6)
[0047]
The allocation pointer PB0 of the beam B0 is set to the position of the start block of the phase, that is, the position of the phase start pointer. On the other hand, the allocation pointer PB1 of the beam B1R is set to a position corresponding to the closest block delayed on the closest time axis from the polar coordinate position (r1, θ1). The allocation pointer PB2 of the beam B2 is set to a position corresponding to the nearest block in the time axis delay direction from the polar coordinate position (r2, θ2). In the example of FIG. 2, the recording start pointers PF1, PF2,... Correspond to the case where the number of effective beams = 3, and the allocation pointer PB0 of the beam B0 is the recording start pointer PF1, PF2,.

<Effects of the present embodiment> As described above, according to the present embodiment, the following effects are obtained.
(1) For a beam for recording information on a new track regardless of the already recorded information after the track jump, information recording is started after the lock time has elapsed, so that the recording time is shortened.
(2) A pointer corresponding to each phase and each beam is set in advance in information to be recorded, and information is recorded with reference to the pointer, so that an optimal operation can be performed and the recording time is shortened.
(3) Even if an error occurs during the recording of information, quick recovery processing can be performed by referring to the pointer.
[0055]
<Other Embodiments> The present invention has many embodiments, and various modifications can be made based on the above disclosure. For example, the following is also included.
(1) In the above embodiment, the case where the number of beams is “3” has been described as an example, but the present invention is not limited to this. In the above embodiment, two types of pointers, the phase start pointer and the beam allocation pointer, are set. However, only the phase start pointer may be set.
(2) The device configuration shown in FIG. 1 is an example, and various design changes can be made so as to achieve the same operation.
(3) In the above embodiment, the case where information is recorded in units of blocks has been described, but the present invention can be similarly applied to the case where information is recorded in units of sectors.
[0056]
【The invention's effect】
As described above, according to the present invention, since a pointer is set to information to be recorded, recording with a plurality of beams is performed with reference to the pointer, thereby eliminating waste of the recording operation and reducing the recording time. Is shortened, and high-speed recording is enabled.
