Description
【0001】

TECHNICAL FIELD OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to a thin-film sheet-like substrate which can be suitably used particularly for a flexible flat panel display and the like, is excellent in gas barrier properties and rich in flexibility, and further excellent in transparency and heat resistance.
[0002]
[Prior art]
Various thin-film sheet-like substrates have been proposed for the purpose of obtaining a flexible flat panel display that can be bent. Such a thin film sheet-like substrate is required to have flexibility and high gas barrier properties in order to protect a display element inside the substrate.
[0003]
Among them, a laminated glass consisting of a two-layer structure in which an ultra-thin glass having a thickness of 100 mm or less is used as a base material and an organic resin film is adhered to one side thereof is reported as a substrate having both gas barrier properties and flexibility. (SID02 DIGEST, USA, Nikkei BP website SID bulletin [http://ne.nikkeibp.co.jp/lcd/2002/05/1000012758.html]).
According to this method, a gas barrier property equivalent to that of a conventional glass substrate can be achieved by using an ultra-thin glass, and a laminated glass in which a 5 mm organic resin film is adhered to a 50 mm ultra-thin glass has an index of flexibility. It is said that the critical radius of curvature immediately before a certain fracture reaches 12 mm.
[0004]
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
However, since the above-mentioned laminated glass uses an organic resin film, the emitted gas or the adsorbed gas derived from the organic resin film deteriorates the display element inside the substrate. The organic resin film could be stuck on only one side of the glass. Furthermore, since the ultra-thin glass alone has extremely low mechanical strength, the step of attaching an organic resin film to only one surface of the ultra-thin glass must be carefully performed. It was possible.
[0005]
In addition, since the laminated glass uses an organic resin film, the heat resistance temperature is limited to 250 ° C. Therefore, the step of fabricating the element on the substrate is limited to 250 ° C. or less.
The present invention has been made in order to solve the above-mentioned problems, and its object is to efficiently perform a thin-film sheet-like substrate having high gas barrier properties, excellent flexibility and high-temperature heat resistance by a process for mass production such as dip coating. An object of the present invention is to provide a thin film sheet-like substrate that can be obtained.
[0006]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
In order to solve the above-mentioned problems, the present inventors have conducted intensive studies and found that a thin film sheet having both gas barrier properties and flexibility by using ultra-thin glass and a metal oxide polymer containing an organic group soluble in various solvents. The inventors have found that a substrate can be obtained in a process for mass production, and have completed the present invention.
[0007]
That is, the thin-film sheet-like substrate according to claim 1 is a thin-film sheet-like substrate composed of a laminate including an inorganic glass layer and a resin layer, wherein the resin layer has a composition mainly composed of a metal oxide polymer. It is characterized by consisting of.
[0008]
The thin film sheet substrate according to a second aspect is the thin film sheet substrate according to the first aspect, wherein the metal oxide polymer is a silicon oxide polymer.
[0009]
The thin-film sheet substrate according to claim 3 is the thin-film sheet substrate according to claim 1 or 2, wherein the composition containing a metal oxide polymer as a main component comprises an organic resin and / or an organic low-molecular compound and a metal. It is an organic-inorganic hybrid material with an oxide polymer.
According to the above configuration, a thin film sheet-like substrate having high gas barrier properties, excellent flexibility, and high-temperature heat resistance can be efficiently obtained by a process for mass production such as dip coating.
[0010]
BEST MODE FOR CARRYING OUT THE INVENTION
As the inorganic glass layer (ultra-thin glass layer) according to the present invention, preferably, inorganic glass having a thickness of 1 mm or more and 300 mm or less and having various compositions can be used.
[0011]
The metal oxide polymer according to the present invention can be obtained by hydrolyzing and condensing various metal alkoxides. Examples of the metal element of the metal alkoxide include Si, Ti, Ge, Zr, Al, In, Sn, Ta, Zn, W, and Pb. In addition, two or more metal alkoxides among these metal alkoxides can be mixed and used at an arbitrary ratio.
[0012]
The metal alkoxide is not particularly limited as long as the metal alkoxide contains the above metal element and can be hydrolyzed and condensed to obtain a metal oxide polymer, but is preferably a silicon oxide polymer, particularly silsesquioxane or polysilyl. It is preferable to use a metal alkoxide called sesquioxane that can obtain a cage-shaped silicon oxide oligomer or a ladder-type (ladder-type) silicon oxide polymer.
Examples of the metal alkoxide for obtaining a silicon oxide polymer by hydrolysis and condensation include tetraalkoxysilanes such as tetramethoxysilane and tetraethoxysilane; aryltrialkoxysilanes such as phenyltrimethoxysilane and phenyltriethoxysilane; Alkyltrialkoxysilanes such as methyltrimethoxysilane, ethyltrimethoxysilane, 3-mercaptopropyltrimethoxysilane, methyltriethoxysilane and ethyltriethoxysilane; phenylmethyldimethoxysilane, phenylethyldimethoxysilane, phenylmethyldiethoxysilane, Arylalkyl dialkoxysilanes such as phenylethyldiethoxysilane; dimethyldimethoxysilane, diethyldimethoxysilane, dimethyldiethoxysilane, diethyl Dialkyldialkoxysilanes such as ethoxysilane; diphenylmethylmethoxysilane, phenyldimethylmethoxysilane, diphenylethylmethoxysilane, phenyldiethylmethoxysilane, diphenylmethylethoxysilane, phenyldimethylethoxysilane, diphenylethylethoxysilane, phenyldiethylethoxysilane, etc. Diarylalkylalkoxysilanes or aryldialkylalkoxysilanes; triarylalkoxysilanes such as triphenylmethoxysilane and triphenylethoxysilane; trialkylalkoxysilanes such as trimethylmethoxysilane, triethylmethoxysilane, trimethylethoxysilane and triethylethoxysilane; No.
[0013]
Although the molecular weight of the metal oxide polymer according to the present invention is not particularly limited, the weight average molecular weight in terms of polystyrene is preferably 5,000 to 1,000,000.
The metal oxide polymer of the present invention is an organic-inorganic hybrid polymer having high heat resistance and almost no decrease in thermogravity up to around 400 ° C.
The resin layer of the present invention comprises a composition containing the above-mentioned metal oxide polymer as a main component.
The composition containing the metal oxide polymer according to the present invention as a main component can be prepared as a solution in which the metal oxide polymer is dissolved in a solvent. Water and various organic solvents can be used as the solvent. The composition containing a metal oxide polymer as a main component further contains a known organic resin such as an acrylic resin or an epoxy resin, a urethane resin, a melamine resin, a polyimide, a polycarbonate, a polyacetal, a polyvinyl butyral, or a polyvinylpyrrolidone, in addition to the above-described components. It may be.
[0014]
These organic resins are contained in the composition to the extent that the metal oxide polymer is the main component.
Further, the composition may contain an organic low molecular compound instead of or together with the organic resin.
[0015]
As a method for applying the prepared metal oxide polymer solution to the ultrathin glass, various known wet coating methods such as a spin coating method, a dipping and pulling coating method, and various printing methods can be used. Among them, the immersion pull-up coating method can be preferably used because it has advantages such as low mechanical pressure applied to the ultra-thin glass and the ability to apply both surfaces of the ultra-thin glass at a time. .
[0016]
In the case of the immersion pull-up coating method, the thickness of the resin layer composed of the composition mainly composed of the metal oxide polymer is controlled by appropriately adjusting the concentration of the metal oxide polymer solution, the pulling speed, and the temperature at the time of pulling. However, in order to obtain desired gas barrier properties and flexibility as a thin film sheet-like substrate, 0.1 mm to 500 mm is preferable for each resin layer (metal oxide polymer layer) applied to one surface of ultra-thin glass. Is 0.1 mm to 200 mm.
[0017]
After applying the metal oxide polymer solution, drying in an oven at 50 to 300 ° C. and heat treatment to remove the solvent can provide the thin film sheet substrate according to the present invention.
[0018]
The thin film sheet-like substrate of the present invention can be used as a flat panel display substrate such as an organic EL display and a liquid crystal display.
[0019]
The thin-film sheet substrate thus obtained is suitable for a display substrate, and has gas barrier properties equivalent to those of a normal glass substrate, excellent flexibility with a critical radius of curvature of 10 mm or less, and heat resistance to a high temperature process of 300 ° C. or more. It has high transparency and almost no absorption in the visible region even after a high-temperature process at 300 ° C.
[0020]

Table 1 shows the thickness, critical radius of curvature, and visible light transmittance at 600 nm of the obtained thin film sheet-like substrate.
[0026]
[Table 1]
[0027]
As is clear from the above results, the thin film sheet-shaped substrate of the present invention has excellent heat resistance that can withstand a high-temperature process of 300 ° C. or higher, despite having a thickness equivalent to that of a conventional glass substrate. It has excellent flexibility. Further, it can be seen that even after the high-temperature step, high transparency with little absorption in the visible region is maintained.
