炭の粉末と樹脂材を混合して作製した歯ブラシ毛によって、抗菌、脱臭などの機能を備えた歯ブラシとして特開2001−197940号公報が提案されている。

上記課題を解決するために本発明における歯ブラシは、柄、ヘッド部、前記ヘッド部に植立した歯ブラシ毛の少なくとも一つに二酸化チタン粒子(TiO)等からなる光触媒を備えた構成とした。なお、二酸化チタン粒子は人体に無害、中毒を起こさず発ガン性も無い。

前記歯ブラシに二酸化チタン粒子を固定する方法としては、各部の構成部材内に二酸化チタン粒子等の光触媒を混入させる構成とした。
二酸化チタンの粒子径は数nm〜数μm、混入量は数重量%〜20重量%程度とした。
歯ブラシ毛は任意の樹脂部材部材としてよい。例えばナイロン、ポリプロピレン、ポリエステル、シリコン系、フッ素系等とした。
