TECHNICAL FIELD OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to an optical recording medium and a method for manufacturing the same, and more particularly, to an optical recording medium for recording and / or reproducing an information signal by irradiating a laser beam from a side provided with a protective layer for protecting an information signal portion. It is suitable for application to a medium.
[0002]
[Prior art]
2. Description of the Related Art In recent years, in the field of information recording, various researches and developments on an optical information recording method have been advanced in various places. This optical information recording method has an advantage that recording and / or reproduction can be performed in a non-contact manner, and that a recording density higher by one digit or more than that of a magnetic recording method can be achieved. Further, this optical information recording method has an additional advantage that it can correspond to each memory type such as a read-only type, a write-once type, and a rewritable type. Therefore, as a method for realizing an inexpensive large-capacity file, application to a wide range of uses from industrial use to consumer use is considered.
[0003]
Among them, digital audio disks (DAD), optical video disks, and the like, which are optical disks corresponding to a read-only memory type, are widely used at present.
[0004]
An optical disk such as a digital audio disk has a reflective film made of a metal thin film such as an aluminum (Al) film on a light-transmitting disk substrate on which a concavo-convex pattern such as pits or grooves indicating information signals is formed. The reflective film is coated with the moisture (H 2 O) and oxygen (O 2 ) And a protective film for protection from the When reproducing the information signal on the optical disk, the disk substrate irradiates a reproduction light such as a laser beam toward the concave / convex pattern, and detects the information signal based on a difference in reflectance between incident light and return light by the reproduction light. I do.
[0005]
When manufacturing such an optical disk, first, a disk substrate having a concavo-convex pattern is formed by an injection molding method. Next, a reflective film made of a metal thin film is formed on the optical disk substrate by a vacuum evaporation method. Next, a protective film is formed by applying an ultraviolet curable resin on the upper layer of the reflective film.
[0006]
In recent years, in such an optical information recording system, further higher recording density has been required. In order to respond to the demand for higher recording density, a technique for reducing the spot diameter of the reproduction light by increasing the numerical aperture (NA) of the objective lens used when irradiating the reproduction light with the optical pickup. Was suggested.
[0007]
That is, for example, while the NA of an objective lens used for reproducing a conventional DAD is 0.45, an optical video disk such as a DVD (Digital Versatile Disc) having a
[0008]
As the NA of such an objective lens is increased, it becomes necessary to make the disk substrate of the optical disk thinner in order to transmit the irradiated reproduction light. This is because the tolerance of the angle (tilt angle) deviating from the perpendicular of the disk surface with respect to the optical axis of the optical pickup is reduced, and the tilt angle is affected by aberration and birefringence due to the thickness of the disk substrate. This is because it is easy to receive. Therefore, the tilt angle is made as small as possible by making the disk substrate thinner. For example, in the above-mentioned DAD, the thickness of the substrate is about 1.2 mm. On the other hand, in an optical video disc such as a DVD having a recording capacity of 6 to 8 times that of the DAD, the thickness of the substrate is about 0.6 mm.
[0009]
In view of the demand for higher recording density in the future, it is necessary to further reduce the thickness of the substrate. Therefore, an information signal portion is formed by forming irregularities on one main surface of the substrate, and a reflection film and a light transmission layer made of a thin film capable of transmitting light are sequentially laminated on the information signal portion, and the light transmission layer side is formed. There has been proposed an optical disc configured to reproduce an information signal by irradiating a reproduction light from the optical disc. In such an optical disc that reproduces an information signal by irradiating reproduction light from the light transmission layer side, it is possible to cope with a high NA of the objective lens by reducing the thickness of the light transmission layer. .
[0010]
However, as the thickness of the light transmitting layer is reduced, it becomes difficult to form the light transmitting layer by an injection molding method using a thermoplastic resin, which is generally used for manufacturing an optical disk. That is, it is very difficult to form a light-transmitting layer of about 0.1 mm that maintains good transparency while maintaining low birefringence by employing the conventional technique.
[0011]
Therefore, a method of forming the light transmitting layer from an ultraviolet curable resin has been devised. However, when the light transmitting layer is formed of an ultraviolet curable resin, it is very difficult to make the light transmitting layer uniform on the substrate surface. Therefore, it becomes difficult to stably reproduce the information signal.
[0012]
Therefore, a method has been proposed in which a light-transmitting sheet is attached to a disk substrate with an adhesive to form a light-transmitting layer having small birefringence, good transparency, and a uniform film thickness. For example, a light-transmitting sheet in which an adhesive layer made of a pressure-sensitive adhesive is provided on one main surface of a flat stage made of metal and a pad made of an elastic body provided at a position facing the flat stage, There has been proposed a method in which a signal portion presses a disk substrate provided on one main surface and bonds a light-transmitting sheet to the disk substrate. According to this method, for example, a light-transmitting layer having a small birefringence, good transparency, and a uniform thickness of 0.1 mm can be formed.
[0013]
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
However, in the optical disk formed by the above-described method, the adhesive layer made of the pressure-sensitive adhesive is exposed to the air at the inner peripheral edge and the outer peripheral edge. When the adhesive layer is exposed to the air in this way, not only does the appearance of the optical disc deteriorate, but also the following important problems occur.
[0014]
That is, (1) the light-transmitting layer may be peeled off from the substrate when the part of the adhesive layer exposed to the air comes into contact with a projection or the like. There is a problem in that foreign substances such as dust are adsorbed, and (3) in long-term use, the information signal portion is corroded through a portion of the adhesive layer exposed to the atmosphere.
[0015]
Therefore, an object of the present invention is to provide an optical recording medium capable of preventing a light transmitting layer from being peeled off from a substrate when a portion of an adhesive layer exposed to the air comes into contact with a projection or the like, and a method of manufacturing the same. Is to do.
[0016]
Another object of the present invention is to provide an optical recording medium capable of preventing foreign substances such as dust from adsorbing to a portion of an adhesive layer exposed to the air, and a method of manufacturing the same.
[0017]
Still another object of the present invention is to provide an optical recording medium capable of preventing the information signal portion from being corroded through a portion of the adhesive layer exposed to the atmosphere during long-term use, and a method of manufacturing the same. It is in.

It is made of a plastic resin. In the present invention, the protective sheet is preferably made of polyethylene terephthalate (PET), polyethylene naphthalate (PEN), or the like. Specifically, at least one surface of the PET or PEN is coated with a second adhesive. Is being worn. Then, the surface to which the second pressure-sensitive adhesive is applied is adhered to one surface of the light-transmitting sheet, thereby forming a sheet to be bonded to the substrate.
[0036]
The present invention can be suitably applied to a next-generation optical recording medium having a thin light transmitting layer such as a DVR (Digital Video Recording system), and uses a semiconductor laser having an emission wavelength of about 650 nm to transmit an information signal. Optical recording such as so-called DVR-red configured to perform recording and reproduction, and so-called DVR-blue configured to perform recording and reproduction of information signals using a semiconductor laser having an emission wavelength of about 400 nm. It can be applied to media. This DVR is preferably configured such that an information signal can be recorded using an objective lens whose NA has been increased to about 0.85. An optical recording medium to which the present invention is preferably applied, such as the DVR, is preferably housed in a cartridge, but the application of the present invention is not necessarily limited to the one housed in a cartridge.
[0037]
In the optical recording medium according to the first aspect of the present invention, a portion of the adhesive layer which comes into contact with the atmosphere is provided on the outer peripheral portion and / or the inner peripheral portion of the protective layer including the sheet and the adhesive layer formed on the information signal portion of the substrate. Since at least the enclosing portion for covering is provided, it is possible to prevent the adhesive layer from being exposed to the air at the outer peripheral portion and / or the inner peripheral portion of the optical recording medium. Therefore, when the portion of the adhesive layer exposed to the air comes into contact with the protrusion or the like, the protective layer can be prevented from peeling off from the substrate. In addition, it is possible to prevent a foreign substance such as dust from adsorbing to a portion of the adhesive layer exposed to the atmosphere. Further, it is possible to prevent the information signal portion from being corroded through the portion of the adhesive layer exposed to the air during long-term use.
[0038]
In the method of manufacturing an optical recording medium according to the second aspect of the present invention, an information signal portion for recording and / or reproducing an information signal is formed on one main surface of a substrate having an opening at a central portion by irradiating a laser beam. Then, a protective layer is formed on the information signal portion by bonding a sheet having an opening in the center with an adhesive layer at least covering the information signal portion, and the adhesive layer is formed on the inner peripheral portion and / or the outer peripheral portion of the protective layer. Since the sealing portion that covers the portion that comes into contact with the atmosphere is formed, it is possible to prevent the light transmitting layer from being exposed to the atmosphere at the outer peripheral portion and / or the inner peripheral portion of the optical recording medium.

In order to apply a desired amount of the ultraviolet curable resin to a desired position on the optical disk, the surface tension of the ultraviolet curable resin in a liquid state is preferably 20 mN / m to 40 mN / m. If the lower limit of the surface tension is set to 20 mN / m or less, it is difficult to apply the ultraviolet curable resin only to a desired portion because the viscosity is too low. On the other hand, if the upper limit of the surface tension is set to 40 mN / m or more, the wettability deteriorates, and it becomes difficult to apply a desired amount of the ultraviolet curable resin to the optical disk.
[0064]
In addition, the present inventor has studied the moisture permeability range of the sealed part in order to further improve the corrosion prevention effect of the sealed part. The moisture permeability range was examined as follows.
[0065]
First, Sample A, Sample B, Sample C, and Sample D having the same configuration as the optical disk according to the first embodiment and having different moisture permeability of the ultraviolet component resin forming the outer peripheral sealing portion were manufactured. In addition, the thickness d of the outer peripheral sealing portion of these samples 2 Is 0.1 mm. The residual ion concentration of the ultraviolet curable resin is 1 ppm. Here, the study range of the moisture permeability is 1 g / cm. 2 ・ 24h-100g / cm 2 ・ It is 24h. This moisture permeability is measured by maintaining a 100 μm thick sheet-shaped sample made of an ultraviolet curable resin in an environment of a temperature of 40 ° C. and a humidity of 90% for 24 hours.
[0066]
After performing an acceleration test for each sample for 200 hours in an environment of a temperature of 80 ° C. and a humidity of 85%, the outer peripheral region of the information signal portion is visually observed to determine whether the outer peripheral portion is corroded. It was determined whether or not.
[0067]
Table 1 shows the moisture permeability of each sample and the determination result. In Table 1, when no corrosion is observed in the outer peripheral region of the sample, the determination result is represented by O, and when corrosion is observed in the outer peripheral region of the sample, the determination result is represented by X.
[0068]
[Table 1]
[0069]
From Table 1, the moisture permeability is 75 g / cm. 2 In the sample having a sealed portion exceeding 24 hours, corrosion was observed in the outer peripheral region, whereas the moisture permeability was 75 g / cm. 2 -No corrosion was observed in the outer peripheral region of the sample having the sealed portion of 24 hours or less. That is, the moisture permeability of the sealed portion is 75 g / cm 2 By setting the length to 24 hours or less, the effect of preventing corrosion of the sealed portion can be further improved.
[0070]
Furthermore, the present inventor studied the residual chlorine ion concentration range of the sealed portion in order to further improve the corrosion prevention effect of the sealed portion. The examination of the residual chlorine ion concentration range was performed as follows.
[0071]
First, Sample F, Sample G, Sample H, and Sample I having the same configuration as the optical disk according to the first embodiment, and having different chlorine ion concentrations in the ultraviolet constituent resin constituting the outer peripheral sealing portion were manufactured. In addition, the thickness d of the outer peripheral sealing portion of these samples 2 Is 0.1 mm. The moisture permeability of the ultraviolet curable resin is 75 g / cm. 2 ・ It is 24h. This moisture permeability is measured by maintaining a 100 μm thick sheet-shaped sample made of an ultraviolet curable resin in an environment of a temperature of 40 ° C. and a humidity of 90% for 24 hours. Here, the examination range of the chloride ion concentration is in the range of 0.1 to 1.5 ppm, and the value of the chloride ion concentration is measured by an ion chromatograph.
[0072]
After performing an acceleration test on each sample for 200 hours in an environment of a temperature of 80 ° C. and a humidity of 85%, the outer peripheral region of the information signal portion is visually observed, and corrosion occurs on the outer peripheral portion of the optical disk. Was determined.
[0073]
Table 2 shows the chloride ion concentration of each sample and the determination results. In Table 2, when no corrosion was observed in the outer peripheral region of the sample, the determination result was represented by ○, and when corrosion was observed in the outer peripheral region of the sample, the determination result was represented by ×.
[0074]
[Table 2]
[0075]
From Table 2, it was found that corrosion was observed in the outer peripheral region in the sample having the sealed portion having the moisture permeability exceeding 1.0 ppm, whereas the sample having the sealed portion having the chlorine ion concentration of 1.0 ppm or less was observed. No corrosion was observed in the outer peripheral region. That is, the effect of preventing corrosion can be further improved by setting the chlorine ion concentration in the sealed portion to 1.0 ppm or less.
