- 【特許請求の範囲】 1.耐光性の水性二酸化チタン顔料スラリーの製造方法であって、 (a)四塩化チタン、塩化アルミニウム、および酸素含有ガスを気相中、核形 成剤の存在下で反応させてTiO2顔料を生成する工程であって、TiO2固形物 の全重量に対して少なくとも2重量%のアルミナを該TiO2顔料中に生じさせ るのに十分な塩化アルミニウムを添加する工程と、 (b)前記TiO2顔料を反応ガスから分離する工程と、 (c)前記TiO2顔料を、全スラリー重量に対して少なくとも78重量%の TiO2固形物を含有するTiO2スラリーを生成するのに十分な水と混合する工 程と、 を具えることを特徴とする製造方法。 2.アルミナ約3から約5重量%が、TiO2顔料中に存在することを特徴と する請求項1に記載の製造方法。 3.スラリーがTiO2固形物を約80から約88重量%含有することを特徴 とする請求項1に記載の製造方法。 4.四塩化チタン、塩化アルミニウム、および酸素含有ガスの反応を塩化リン の存在下で行い、TiO2顔料中にP2O50.1から0.5重量%をもたらすこ とを特徴とする請求項1に記載の製造方法。 5.工程(b)の後で工程(c)の前に、水蒸気、空気、窒素、およびそれら の混合物よりなる群から選択されたガスによって、音速または超音速、圧力約2 5〜600psi(約1.758〜約42.186kg/cm2)、および温度 140〜650℃で、TiO2顔料を処理することを特徴とする請求項1に記載 の製造方法。 6.処理されたTiO2顔料は、顔料を処理するのに使用されたガスから次い で分離されることを特徴とする請求項5に記載の製造方法。 7.TiO2顔料が、クエン酸、ポリアクリレート、トリエタノールアミン、 2−アミノ−2−メチル−1−プロパノール、モノイソプロピルアミン、および それらの混合物よりなる群から選択された分散剤の存在下で十分な水と混合され ることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の製造方法。 8.耐光性の水性二酸化チタン顔料スラリーの製造方法であって、 (a)四塩化チタン、塩化アルミニウム、および酸素含有ガスを気相中、核形 成剤の存在下で反応させてTiO2顔料を生成する工程であって、TiO2固形物 の全重量に対して少なくとも2重量%のアルミナを該TiO2顔料中に生じさせ るのに十分な塩化アルミニウムを添加する工程と、 (b)前記TiO2顔料を反応ガスから分離する工程と、 (c)前記TiO2顔料を、全スラリー重量に対して少なくとも78重量%の TiO2固形物を含有するTiO2スラリーを生成するのに十分な水と混合する工 程と、 (d)スラリーを希釈する工程と、 を具えることを特徴とする製造方法。 9.耐光性の水性二酸化チタン顔料スラリーの製造方法であって、 (a)四塩化チタン、塩化アルミニウム、および酸素含有ガスを気相中、核形 成剤の存在下で反応させてTiO2顔料を生成する工程であって、TiO2固形物 の全重量に対して少なくとも2重量%のアルミナを該TiO2顔料中に生じさせ るのに十分な塩化アルミニウムを添加する工程と、 (b)前記TiO2顔料を反応ガスから分離する工程と、 (c)前記TiO2顔料を、全スラリー重量に対して少なくとも78重量%の TiO2固形物を含有するTiO2スラリーを生成するのに十分な水と混合する工 程と、 (d)スラリーを希釈する工程と、 (e)スラリーをふるい分けして、粗粒子を除去する工程と、 (f)スラリーを媒体粉砕して、TiO2粒子の粒径を減少させる工程と、 を具えることを特徴とする製造方法。 10.アルミナ約3から約5重量%が、TiO2顔料中に存在することを特徴 とする請求項8または9に記載の製造方法。 11.工程(c)において生成されたスラリーが、TiO2固形物約80から 約88重量%を含有することを特徴とする請求項8または9に記載の製造方法。 12.工程(d)において生成されたスラリーが、TiO2固形物含量約68 から約78重量%の範囲まで希釈されることを特徴とする請求項8または9に記 載の製造方法。
