【特許請求の範囲】
【請求項1】 化合物を油溶性又は油分散性にすることのできる配位子に結合した三核モリブデンコアを有し、1以上の前記配位子が前記コアに結合するイオウ原子を含む、油溶性又は油分散性の三核モリブデン−イオウ化合物を製造する方法であって、
(A) 三核モリブデンコアを含むアニオンを含有する1モル当量の反応化合物、及び
(B) 前記1以上の配位子が誘導される3未満のモル当量の有機ジスルフィドを反応させて、前記三核化合物を生成する工程を含む方法。
【請求項2】 前記反応化合物が、 [Mo313]2-イオンを含む請求項1に記載の方法。
【請求項3】 2モル当量の前記ジスルフィドを反応させる、請求項1又は2に記載の方法。
【請求項4】 前記三核モリブデン化合物が、式Mo3xyを有し、
式中、xは、4又は7のように、4〜10であり、
Lは、配位子を示し、;かつ
yは、Mo3xコアの電荷を中和する数である、
請求項1〜3のいずれか1項に記載の方法。
【請求項5】 前記ジスルフィドが、テトラハイドロカルビルチウラムジスルフィド;ビス(ジハイドロカルビルジチオ−ホスホネート)ジスルフィド;ビス(ジチオハイドロカルビルジチオ−ホスホネート)ジスルフィド;ハイドロカルビル置換キサントゲン;又はハイドロカルビル置換チオキサントゲンである、請求項1〜4のいずれか1項に記載の方法。
【請求項6】 前記ハイドロカルビル基が、アルキル基である請求項5に記載の方法。
【請求項7】 前記アルキル基が、3〜20個の炭素原子を有する請求項6に記載の方法。
【請求項8】 主要量の潤滑粘度の油と、請求項1〜7のいずれか1項に記載の方法で製造された少量の三核モリブデン−イオウ化合物とを含む潤滑油組成物。
【請求項9】 主要量の潤滑粘度の油と、請求項1〜7のいずれか1項に記載の方法で製造された少量の三核モリブデン−イオウ化合物とをブレンドする工程を含む潤滑油組成物の製造方法。
【請求項10】 内燃機関に、請求項8に記載の潤滑油組成物又は請求項9に記載の方法で製造された潤滑油組成物を供給することを含む内燃機関を潤滑する方法。
【請求項11】 内燃機関の摩擦、摩耗及び酸化、並びにこれら特性の保持の1種以上を減少させる方法であって、内燃機関の移動面を、請求項8に記載の潤滑油組成物又は請求項9に記載の方法で製造された潤滑油組成物で処理することを含む方法。
【請求項12】 内燃機関の燃料消費を減少させる方法であって、内燃機関の移動面を、請求項8に記載の潤滑油組成物又は請求項9に記載の方法で製造された潤滑油組成物で処理することを含む方法。
