- 【特許請求の範囲】 1. コモディティメーターからコモディティ使用データを取得するための自動 メーター読み取りデータ通信システムであって、 前記コモディティメーターに取り付け可能なインターフェース管理ユニットと 、 該インターフェース管理ユニットから遠隔に設置され、2方向ワイヤレスロー カルエリアネットワーク上で該インターフェース管理ユニットと通信するゲート ウェイノードとを有し、 該ゲートウェイノードが、2方向の据え付けの電気通信事業者のワイドエリア ネットワーク上でユーティリティサービスプロバイダと通信を行なう自動メータ ー読み取りデータ通信システム。 2. 前記インターフェース管理ユニットは、 前記メーターからコモディティ使用データを取得し、該データを格納する、該 メーターと接続可能な入力を有するデジタルエンコーダと、 該メーターからのコモディティ使用データを送信し、前記ゲートウェイノード からのデータ要求を受信する、前記デジタルエンコーダに接続された2方向ワイ ヤレス送受信機とを有する請求項1に記載のデータ通信システム。 3. 前記ゲートウェイノードは、 前記インターフェース管理ユニットに質問信号を送信し、該インターフェース 管理ユニットからコモディティ使用データを受信するRF処理部と、 前記ユーティリティからデータ要求を受信し、該ユーティリティへコモディテ ィ使用データを送信するワイドエリアネットワーク処理部と、 質問信号とコモディティ使用データを送信し、処理するメッセージ発送部と、 ユーティリティ情報及びインターフェース管理ユニット情報を格納するデータ 格納メモリと、 スケジュールされたメーター読み取りの予めプログラムされたリストを格納す るスケジューラとを有する請求項1に記載のデータ通信システム。 4. 前記2方向ワイヤレスローカルエリアネットワークは無線周波数拡散スペ クトラム通信技術を利用する請求項1に記載のデータ通信システム。 5. 前記ワイドエリアネットワーク処理部は、商用で使用可能な固定された電 気通信事業者のワイドエリアネットワークシステムを利用する請求項4に記載の データ通信システム。 6. 前記ゲートウェイノードは、前記ユーティリティサービスプロバイダから のユーティリティ要求メッセージに応答して前記データ通信システムにおける通 信を開始可能である請求項1に記載のデータ通信システム。 7. 前記ゲートウェイノードは、前記スケジューラからの予めプログラムされ たスケジュールの読み取りメッセージに応答して前記データ通信システムにおけ る通信を開始可能である請求項3に記載のデータ通信システム。 8. 前記インターフェース管理ユニットは、アラーム又は不正の状態に応答し て前記データ通信システムにおける通信を開始可能である請求項1に記載のデー タ通信システム。 9. 前記インターフェース管理ユニットと前記ゲートウェイノード間に置かれ 、該インターフェース管理ユニットへ、及び該インターフェース管理ユニットか らデータ及び要求を再送信する中継ノードを更に有する請求項1に記載のデータ 通信システム。 10. 前記ゲートウェイノードは、ユーティリティ識別情報と、インターフェ ース管理ユニット識別と、スケジュール設定されたメーター読み取りとをメモリ に格納する請求項1に記載のデータ通信システム。 11. コモディティメーターとの使用に適したインターフェース管理ユニット であって、該インターフェース管理ユニットは、 ゲートウェイノードと通信し、 前記メーターと接続可能な入力を有し、該メーターからコモディティ使用デー タを取得し、該データを格納するデジタルエンコーダと、 該デジタルエンコーダに接続され、該メーターからのコモディティ使用データ を送信し、前記ゲートウェイノードからのデータ要求を受信する、2方向ワイヤ レス送受信機とを有するインターフェース管理ユニット。 12. 前記インターフェース管理ユニットはアダプタリングを用いて前記メー ターに取り付けられる請求項11に記載のインターフェース管理ユニット。 13. 前記デジタルエンコーダは、管理用マイクロコントローラーと、該管理 用マイクロコントローラーに接続された通信マイクロコントローラーを有し、該 通信マイクロコントローラーは前記イ ンターフェース管理ユニットの内部及び外部通信機能を制御し、 前記2方向ワイヤレス送受信機は、前記インターフェース管理ユニットに拡散 スペクトラム通信技術を利用したデータの送受信を可能とさせる前記通信マイク ロコントローラーに接続された拡散スペクトラムプロセッサと、前記メーターか らのコモディティ使用データを送信し、前記ゲートウェイノードからの質問信号 を受信する前記拡散スペクトラムプロセッサ及び前記通信マイクロコントローラ ーと接続されたRF送受信機とを有する請求項11に記載のインターフェース管 理ユニット。 14. 前記インターフェース管理ユニットは、複数の異なるメーターと接続し 、複数の異なるデータの報告の必要性に対応するようにプログラム可能である請 求項11に記載のインターフェース管理ユニット。 15. 質問信号をインターフェース管理ユニットに提供し、該インターフェー ス管理ユニットからコモディティ使用データを受信する、コモディティメーター に接続された該インターフェース管理ユニットとの使用に適したゲートウェイノ ードであって、 該インターフェース管理ユニットに質問信号を送信し、該インターフェース管 理ユニットからコモディティ使用データを受信するRF処理部と、 ユーティリティからデータ要求を受信し、該ユーティリティにコモディティ使 用データを送信するワイドエリアネットワーク処理部と、 質問信号とコモディティ使用データを送信し、処理するメッセージ発送部と、 ユーティリティ情報とインターフェース管理ユニット情報を格納するデータ格 納メモリと、 予めプログラムされたスケジュールによるメーター読み取りのリストとを有す るゲートウェイノード。 16. 前記RF処理部は、拡散スペクトラム通信技術を利用する2方向ワイヤ レスRF送受信機を含む請求項15に記載のゲートウェイノード。 17. 前記ワイドエリアネットワーク処理部は、商用で使用可能な2方向の据 え付けの電気通信事業者のワイドエリアネットワークインターフェースを含む請 求項15に記載のゲートウェイノード。 18. 前記メッセージ発送部は、RF処理部及びワイドエリアネットワーク処 理部からのデータ送信及び要求を、送信し及び処理する初期化マイクロコントロ ーラー及び拡散スペクトラムプロセッサを含む請求項15に記載のゲートウェイ ノード。 19. 前記データ格納メモリは、ユーティリティID照合にためにWAN処理 部に接続され、インターフェース管理ユニット識別照合のために前記メッセージ 発送部に接続され、インターフェース管理ユニット情報のために前記スケジュー ラに接続される請求項15に記載のゲートウェイノード。 20. 前記スケジューラは、スケジュールされたメーターの読み取りを実行す るために前記データ格納メモリと前記RF処理部に接続される請求項15に記載 のゲートウェイノード。 21. コモディティメーターとの使用に適したインターフェース管理ユニット であって、該インターフェース管理ユニットは遠隔のゲートウェイノードと通信 し、 前記メーターからコモディティ使用データを取得し格納する、該メーターに接 続可能な入力を有する管理用マイクロコントローラーであって、質問信号を検出 するために前記インターフェース管理ユニットの残りの部分に定期的に通電する 該管理用マイクロコントローラーと、 該管理用マイクロコントローラーに接続された通信マイクロコントローラーで あって、該インターフェース管理ユニットの内部及び外部の通信機能を制御する 該通信マイクロコントローラーと、 該通信マイクロコントローラーに接続され、該インターフェース管理ユニット に拡散スペクトラム通信技術を利用したデータの送受信を可能とさせる拡散スペ クトラムプロセッサと、 該拡散スペクトラムプロセッサ及び前記通信マイクロコントローラーと接続さ れ、前記メーターからのコモディティ使用データを送信し、前記ゲートウェイノ ードからの質問信号を受信するRF送受信機とを有するインターフェース管理ユ ニット。 22. 質問信号をインターフェース管理ユニットに提供し、該インターフェー ス管理ユニットからコモディティ使用データを受信する、コモディティメーター に接続された該インターフェース管理ユニットとの使用に適したゲートウェイノ ードであって、 該インターフェース管理ユニットに質問信号を送信し、該インターフェース管 理ユニットからコモディティ使用データを受信するRF処理部と、 該RF送受信機に接続され、前記ゲートウェイノードに拡散スペクトラム技術 を使用したデータの送受信を可能とさせる拡散スペクトラムプロセッサと、 該拡散スペクトラムプロセッサに接続され、該拡散スペクトラムプロセッサに データを送信し、該拡散スペクトラムプロセッサからデータを受信するインター フェースモジュールと、 該インターフェースモジュールと該拡散スペクトラムプロセッサ間に置かれ、 該拡散スペクトラムプロセッサの動作を制御する初期化マイクロコントローラー とを有するゲートウェイノード。 23. 自動的にコモディティメーターからデータを読み取り、そのデータを2 方向ワイヤレス通信リンクを介して送信する方法であって、 コモディティ使用データを読み取るためにインターフェース管理ユニットをコ モディティメーターに設置するステップと、 2方向ワイヤレスRF拡散スペクトラムローカルエリアネットワークを介して 、前記インターフェース管理ユニットから遠隔に置かれたゲートウェイノードを 用いて該インターフェース管理ユニットに応答させるステップと、 前記ローカルエリアネットワークを介して前記ゲートウェイノードにRFメッ セージを提供することにより、前記応答させるための信号に応答するステップと 、 据え付けの2方向の電気通信事業者のワイドエリアネットワークを介して、要 求されたデータを前記ゲートウェイノードからユーティリティサービスプロバイ ダに送信するステップとを有する方法。 24. 前記インターフェース管理ユニットと前記ゲートウェイノード間で信号 を転送するために、該インターフェース管理ユニットと該ゲートウェイノード間 に中継ノードを置くステップを更に有する請求項23に記載の方法。
