- 【特許請求の範囲】 1. コモディティ使用量を計測し及び電源品質を監視する電子式変換器と、 該電子式変換器と接続され、前記コモディティ使用データ及び前記電源品質情 報を変換するメーターマイクロコントローラーと、 該メーターマイクロコントローラーと接続され、前記コモディティ使用データ 及び前記電源品質情報を処理する計測マイクロコントローラーと、 該計測マイクロコントローラーと接続し、コモディティ使用データと電源品質 情報を前記メーターから遠隔のゲートウェイノードに送信し、該遠隔のゲートウ ェイノードからデータ要求を受信する2方向ワイヤレス送受信機と、 該計測マイクロコントローラーと接続し、コモディティ使用データと電源品質 情報を前記メーターからユーティリティサービスプロバイダに送信し、該ユーテ ィリティサービスプロバイダからデータ要求を受信する少なくとも1つの通信ネ ットワークモジュールとを有する電子式電気メーター。 2. 前記通信ネットワークモジュールは前記メーターから取り外し可能であり 、他の通信ネットワークモジュールと互換性がある請求項1に記載の電気メータ ー。 3. 前記通信ネットワークモジュールは狭帯域パーソナル通信サービス(PC S)モジュールである請求項2に記載の電気メーター。 4. 前記通信ネットワークモジュールは電源線キャリア(PLC)モジュール である請求項2に記載の電気メーター。 5. コモディティ使用を計測し及び電源品質を監視する電子式変換器と、 該電子式変換器と接続され、ユーティリティサービスプロバイダに送るために 前記コモディティ使用データ及び前記電源品質情報を処理する計測マイクロコン トローラーと、 該計測マイクロコントローラーと接続し、コモディティ使用データを前記メー ターから送信し、遠隔のゲートウェイノードからデータ要求を受信する2方向ワ イヤレス送受信機と、 該計測マイクロコントローラーと接続し、コモディティ使用データと電源品質 情報を前記メーターからユーティリティサービスプロバイダに送信し、該ユーテ ィリティサービスプロバイダからデータ要求を受信する少なくとも1つのネット ワークインターフェースモジュールとを有する電子式電気メーター。 6. 前記通信ネットワークモジュールは前記メーターから取り外し可能であり 、他の通信ネットワークモジュールと交換可能である請求項5に記載の電気メー ター。 7. 前記通信ネットワークモジュールは、狭帯域パーソナル通信サービス(P CS)モジュールである請求項6に記載の電気メーター。 8. 前記通信ネットワークモジュールは電力線キャリア(PLC)モジュール である請求項5に記載の電気メーター。 9. コモディティメーターからコモディティ使用データを取得するための自動 メーター読み取りデータ通信システムであって、 ローカルエリアネットワークインターフェースとワイドエリア ネットワークインターフェースを有する電子式電気メーターと、 該電気メーターから遠隔に設置され、2方向ワイヤレスローカルエリアネット ワーク上で該電気メーターと通信するゲートウェイノードとを有し、 該ゲートウェイノードが、2方向の据え付けの電気通信事業者のワイドエリア ネットワーク上でユーティリティサービスプロバイダと通信を行ない、 前記メーターが、ネットワーク化された通信システムを介して前記ユーティリ ティと通信する自動メーター読み取りデータ通信システム。 10. 前記ゲートウェイノードは、 前記電気メーターに質問信号を送信し、該電気メーターからコモディティ使用 データを受信するRF処理部と、 前記ユーティリティからデータ要求を受信し、該ユーティリティへコモディテ ィ使用データを送信するワイドエリアネットワーク処理部と、 質問信号とコモディティ使用データを送信し、処理するメッセージ発送部と、 ユーティリティ情報及びメーター情報を格納するデータ格納メモリと、 スケジュールされたメーター読み取りの予めプログラムされたリストを格納す るスケジューラとを有する請求項9に記載のデータ通信システム。 11. 前記2方向ワイヤレスローカルエリアネットワークは無線周波数拡散ス ペクトラム通信技術を利用する請求項9に記載のデータ通信システム。 12. 前記ワイドエリアネットワーク処理部は、商用で使用可能な据え付けの 電気通信事業者のワイドエリアネットワークシステムを利用する請求項9に記載 のデータ通信システム。 13. 前記ゲートウェイノードは、前記ユーティリティサービスプロバイダか らのユーティリティ要求メッセージに応答して前記データ通信システムにおける 通信を開始可能である請求項9に記載のデータ通信システム。 14. 前記ゲートウェイノードは、前記スケジューラからの予めプログラムさ れたスケジュールの読み取りメッセージに応答して前記データ通信システムにお ける通信を開始可能である請求項10に記載のデータ通信システム。 15. 前記電気メーターは、アラーム停止又は不正の状態に応答して前記デー タ通信システムにおける通信を開始可能である請求項9に記載のデータ通信シス テム。 16. 前記ゲートウェイノードは、ユーティリティ識別情報と、メーター識別 と、スケジュール設定されたメーター読み取りとをメモリに格納する請求項9に 記載のデータ通信システム。 17. コモディティ使用量を計測し及び電源品質を監視する電子式変換器と、 該電子式変換器と接続し、コモディティ使用データと電源品質情報を前記メー ターから送信し、ゲートウェイノードからデータ要求を受信する2方向ワイヤレ ス送受信機とを有する電子式電気メーター。 18. 前記電気変換器はコモディティ使用を検出する変流器及び変圧器を有す る請求項17に記載の電気メーター。 19. 前記2方向ワイヤレス送受信機は、 前記電気メーターに拡散スペクトラム通信技術を利用したデータの送受信を可 能とさせる、前記通信マイクロコントローラーに接続された拡散スペクトラムプ ロセッサと、 前記メーターからのコモディティ使用データを送信し、前記ゲートウェイノー ドからの質問信号を受信する前記拡散スペクトラムプロセッサ及び前記通信マイ クロコントローラーと接続されたRF送受信機とを有する請求項17に記載の電 気メーター。 20. 前記電気メーターはプログラム可能である請求項17に記載の電気メー ター。 21. 質問信号を電気メーターに提供し、該電気メーターからコモディティ使 用データ及び電源品質情報を受信する、該電子式電気メーターとの使用に適した ゲートウェイノードであって、 該電気メーターに質問信号を送信し、該電気メーターからコモディティ使用デ ータ及び電源品質情報を受信するRF処理部と、 ユーティリティからデータ要求を受信し、該ユーティリティにコモディティ使 用データ及び電源品質情報を送信するワイドエリアネットワーク処理部と、 質問信号、コモディティ使用データ及び電源品質情報を送信し、処理するメッ セージ発送部と、 ユーティリティ情報とメーター情報を格納するデータ格納メモリと、 予めプログラムされたスケジュールによるメーター読み取りのリストとを有す るゲートウェイノード。 22. 前記RF処理部は、拡散スペクトラム通信技術を利用する2方向ワイヤ レスRF送受信機インターフェースを含む請求項21に記載のゲートウェイノー ド。 23. 前記ワイドエリアネットワーク処理部は、商用で使用可能な2方向の据 え付けの電気通信事業者のワイドエリアネットワークインターフェースを含む請 求項21に記載のゲートウェイノード。 24. 前記メッセージ発送部は、RF処理部及びワイドエリアネットワーク処 理部からのデータ送信及び要求を、送信し及び処理する初期化マイクロコントロ ーラー及び拡散スペクトラムプロセッサを含む請求項21に記載のゲートウェイ ノード。 25. 前記データ格納メモリは、ユーティリティID照合のために前記WAN 処理部に接続され、電気メーター識別照合のために前記メッセージ発送部に接続 され、電気メーター情報のために前記スケジューラに接続される請求項21に記 載のゲートウェイノード。 26. 前記スケジューラは、スケジュールされたメーターの読み取りを実行す るために前記データ格納メモリと前記RF処理部に接続される請求項21に記載 のゲートウェイノード。 27. 質問信号を電気メーターに提供し、該電気メーターからコモディティ使 用データ及び電源品質情報を受信する、電子式電気メーターとの使用に適したゲ ートウェイノードであって、 該電気メーターに質問信号を送信し、該電気メーターからコモディティ使用デ ータ及び電源品質情報を受信するRF処理部と、 該RF送受信機に接続され、前記ゲートウェイノードに拡散スペ クトラム技術を使用したデータの送受信を可能とさせる拡散スペクトラムプロセ ッサと、 該拡散スペクトラムプロセッサに接続され、該拡散スペクトラムプロセッサに データを送信し、該拡散スペクトラムプロセッサからデータを受信するインター フェースモジュールと、 該インターフェースモジュールと該拡散スペクトラムプロセッサ間に置かれ、 該拡散スペクトラムプロセッサの動作を制御する初期化マイクロコントローラー とを有するゲートウェイノード。 28. 自動的にコモディティメーターからデータを読み取り、そのデータを2 方向ワイヤレス通信リンクを介して送信する方法であって、 計測されたコモディティ使用データ及び電源品質情報を送受信するRF送受信 機を有する電子式電気メーターを設置するステップと、 2方向ワイヤレスRF拡散スペクトラムローカルエリアネットワークを介して 、前記電気メーターから遠隔に置かれたゲートウェイノードを用いて該電気メー ターに応答させるステップと、 前記ローカルエリアネットワークを介して前記ゲートウェイノードにRFメッ セージを提供することにより、前記応答させるための信号に応答するステップと 、 据え付けの2方向の電気通信事業者のワイドエリアネットワークを介して、要 求されたデータを前記ゲートウェイノードからユーティリティサービスプロバイ ダに送信するステップとを有する方法。
