The present invention has been made in order to overcome the foregoing problems of the prior art.

It is a purpose of the invention to provide a footrest structure for a motorcycle so that the driver can keep his feet on the footpegs reliably, comfortably and firmly during a journey, or when driving in a meandering path, for example when cornering or when steering.

A further object of the invention is to provide a footrest structure for a motorcycle so that not only the driver can reliably rest his feet on the footrests, but also the passenger can reliably and comfortably rest his feet on the footrests without spreading his legs. , that is, keeping the knees, legs and feet tight.

A motorcycle will be described briefly with reference to Figures 1 and 2. The motorcycle 1 comprises a lowered floor which extends between a steering handlebar and a saddle and transversely to a body of the motorcycle, and having a pair of footrests 30, 30.

A concave lower liner 12 extends on a lower side of the frame 2 and comprises footrests which will be described below.

An oscillating-type powerplant 13 comprising an engine 13a is pivotally supported behind the frame 2. A rear wheel 14 which acts as a drive wheel is attached to the rear end of the powertrain 13. A rear shock absorber assembly 15 is inserted between the rear end of the powerplant 13 and the rear part of the frame.

A first exhaust chamber 16a is positioned immediately behind the engine 13a. An exhaust muffler 16 is arranged behind the first exhaust chamber 16a and on a first side of the motorcycle. An air filter 17, which is identical or similar to the exhaust muffler 18 in shape and size, is disposed on the other side of the motorcycle body. In other words, the exhaust muffler 16 and the air filter 17 are arranged on opposite sides of the body of the motorcycle, thus improving the aesthetics of the motorcycle.

A rear trim 18 extends over the rear of the motorcycle, and comprises a seat post trim portion 18a in a front portion thereof, and a rear trim portion 18b in a rear portion thereof. The covering of the central floor 17 and the rear covering 18 constitute a covering of the body 50.

A double type saddle 19 is positioned on the central and front part of the rear covering 18, and can receive two people. The saddle 19 comprises a front part 19a and a rear part 19b. The front part 19a overlaps the rear part 19b, and is slidable by about 50 mm in order to adjust its forward and backward position.

A pair of passenger protectors 20, 20 are provided for the passenger seat. Each passenger shroud extends between the center right and left, and the front of the rear trim 18. A pair of passenger handles 20a are provided at the upper ends of the passenger shrouds 20.

A storage container is provided behind the saddle 19, ie in the rear part of the rear covering 18, and is closed by a lid 21 hinged along a lateral edge.

The footrests 30, 30 enclose the steering column trim 7a at the lower rear surface of the front fairing 7, and extend over the opposite lower sides of the center floor trim 11, and the opposite front sides of the rear trim 18 behind the central floor covering 11.

With reference to Figure 4, each footrest 30 has a front part 30a whose outer edge is curved towards the center of the motorcycle body. The front 30a is inclined upward as illustrated in Figures 1 and 3.

Each footrest 30 has a maximum width at the bottom of the curved front part 30a as illustrated in Figure 4, and gradually converges towards its rear end, i.e. a side edge 30b of the footrest 30 approaches the axis C of the motorcycle body.

The right and left footrests 30, 30 enclose between them the central covering of the floor 11 as illustrated in Figures 5 and 6.

The inner side edges 30c of the footrests 30 are supported by seats 11b, 11b bent outwardly on the bottom side walls 11a of the central floor covering 11. The outer side edges 30b of the footrests 30, 30 are supported by opposite upper lateral edges. 12a, 12a of the lower casing 12.

Furthermore, when a passenger is also seated on the motorcycle as shown in Figure 7, he can firmly rest his feet 41a on the upwardly inclined passenger footrests 32, with their front portions inclined upward, similar to the footrest for the driver 31.

Further, the secondary footboards 3id behind the rear portions of the main footboards 31a are inclined upward in the rearward facing direction as previously described.

When the driver places his feet 40a on the secondary footboards 31d as illustrated in Figure 8, the feet 40a are inclined downward and forward.
