Description
The present invention refers to a controlled closing system for sliding furniture elements.
Spring closure systems are known for sliding furniture elements (for example sliding wardrobe doors) which essentially contain a body, a coupling and a spring. The closing system has a slider that hooks the sliding door when it is close to the closed position and drags it with a spring to the completely closed position. By manually dragging the sliding door back to Γ opening, the system rearms, with the cursor returning to its initial position and then releasing from the door.
On the body of the coupling there are generally cavities inside of which there are special protuberances obtained on the coupling. In general, the lateral cavities in which the guide protuberances slide are difficult to make and make the body weaker and prone to unwanted twisting and bending. A closure system of this type is, for example, described in EP 0391 221.
The general purpose of the present invention is to obviate the aforementioned drawbacks by providing an innovative closing system for sliding furniture elements which has no lateral cavities, and is more robust and durable and, also, easier to make. This system is particularly suitable for cabinets where the doors are guided by trolleys that slide on guide profiles generally obtained by extrusion.
In view of this purpose, according to the invention, it was thought to realize a controlled closing system for a sliding piece of furniture, comprising an elongated body in which a rectilinear groove passing through the body and extending axially in the closing direction is obtained, a latch member being slidably disposed in the groove for moving from a first rest position to a second closure position by the action of a spring, the latch member comprising a front abutment surface and a rear abutment surface projecting from groove and mutually faced along the direction of extension of the groove to define a seat intended to receive a dragging projection integral with the sliding element, in said first position the traction of the spring and the support of the coupling element in the groove being such as to cause the rotation of the hooking element in the pia of the groove, in the direction of lowering the front abutment surface towards the groove, the coupling element engaging with this rotation a stop to maintain the first position against the action of the spring, the lowering of the front abutment surface in said first position being such that the dragging projection pushed towards the closure can climb over the front abutment surface and push on the rear abutment surface, so as to cause the opposite rotation of the coupling element, the lifting of the front abutment surface above the dragging projection and disengagement of the stop, thus freeing the hooking element to allow its movement pulled by the spring towards the second position and dragging the dragging projection of the sliding furniture element with it towards the closed position.
Nei disegni: To clarify the explanation of the innovative principles of the present invention and its advantages with respect to the known art, a possible exemplary embodiment applying these principles will be described below, with the help of the attached drawings. In the drawings:

-figura 6 è una vista ingrandita, in prospettiva dal basso, di un elemento di gancio del sistema di figura 2; figure 6 is an enlarged view, in perspective from below, of a hook element of the system of figure 2;
- Figures 7 and 8 are bottom perspective views of two variants of the hook element of Figure 6.
With reference to the figures, figure 1 shows a controlled closing system, generically indicated with 10, made according to the principles of the invention, mounted for example at the end of the stroke of a sliding door 11 of a piece of furniture 12. The door 11 it is guided by upper carriages 13, of known type, which slide along guide profiles 14, also known (generally obtained by extrusion). As can be seen in Figure 1, the closing system can be advantageously housed in a groove of the guide profiles. The system can be mounted at the ends of both directions of movement of the door, both in closing and at maximum opening.
The controlled closing system 10 comprises a body 15 which serves as housing for the whole mechanism and in which a coupling element 16 slides which acts on a dragging projection 17 of one of the door carriages.
As will be clear from the following, when the door is slid until the projection 17 reaches the closing system, the hook 16 is spring activated to drag the door to the stop, as shown in figure 1. soft closing, the system 10 may comprise a shock absorber 18.
As can be seen in figures 2, 3 and 4, inside the body 15 there is a through groove 20, generally rectangular, axially extended in the direction of action of the system with parallel side walls. In the side walls two cavities 21, 22 are obtained at the top, forming horizontal surfaces 23, 24 ending with two cavities 25, 26 in the opposite direction to that of closure of the system. In the side walls two further hollows 30, 31 are obtained below which form horizontal surfaces 32, 33.
As can be seen clearly in Figure 4, the body 15 extends beyond the groove 20 in the closing direction and forms a seat 27 at the top for housing the possible shock absorber 18 and, at the bottom, a seat 28 for the spring 29. Shock absorber and spring they are fixed at one end to the body 15 and at the other end to the hook 16. The spring works in traction and pulls the hook in the closing direction of the door (to the right in the figures), adequately opposed by the shock absorber, if present.
In figure 4 you can also see a fixing plate 34 which together with a screw 35 creates fastening means for the entire system on the guide profile 14.
The body 15 has no lateral cavities and in the preferred case in which it is produced in plastic material with injection molding, or in die-cast metal, the molding is particularly simple (no trolleys are required) and the piece has a good consistency despite being very elongated in relation to the lateral dimension. The hook element 16 has a body shaped to slide inside the groove 20. As can be clearly seen in figure 6, advantageously the hooking element has a central zone, of a thickness suitable for sliding with minimum play in the groove 20, and upper areas 36 and lower 37 of greater thickness suitable for sliding with minimum play in the space delimited respectively by the upper slots 21, 22 and 30, 31. The lower part may not be integral but fixed to the coupling element to allow easy assembly.
The coupling element 16 presents symmetrically on its two sides horizontal surfaces 39 intended to slide on the sliding surfaces 23, 24 on the sides of the groove 20. The surfaces 39 are centrally shaped so as to obtain a stop or tooth 40. The surface parts 39 which form the teeth 40 on the two sides of the hooking element are designed to enter the slots 25 and 26 to allow the rotation of the element 16 and its locking in the rest position.
Advantageously, the coupling element also includes horizontal lateral surfaces 38 intended to slide on the lower surfaces 32, 33 on the sides of the groove 20.
The coupling element has a projection 41 in the upper part for the attachment of the possible shock absorber and, on the opposite side, a tooth 42. The projection 41 and the tooth 42 respectively define a front abutment surface 48 and an abutment surface rear 49 protruding from the groove and mutually facing along the direction of extension of the groove to define between them a seat or housing 44 intended to receive the dragging projection 17 integral with the sliding element 11.
When the closing system is in the rest position shown in figure 5 (door open), the hooking element 16 is locked in the extreme left position inside the sliding track formed by the groove 20. The stop position is guaranteed by the lateral teeth 40 which engage in the respective slots 25, 26. The engagement is obtained by means of the torque of rotation of the coupling element caused by the traction of the spring on the coupling 47 in a direction lower than the sliding surface 39.
As can be seen clearly in Figure 5, the coupling element, the sliding surfaces, the teeth and the respective slots are dimensioned in such a way that when the mechanism is in the locked condition on the left, the front abutment surface 48 is lowered towards the groove so as not to interfere with the stroke of the projection 17 (shown in broken lines in Figures 4 and 5).
In this way, when the leaf is pushed or accompanied in the closing direction, the protruding part 17 of the carriage hits the rear abutment surface 49 of the coupling element, causing the coupling itself to rotate around the fulcrum point 45 represented by the underlying part of the surface 39, thus allowing the disengagement of the stops 40 from the slots. At this point the hooking element slides in the direction of maximum closure (to the right in figure 4) pulled by the spring, with the tooth 42 engaging the dragging projection 17 of the carriage, as seen in figure 4. The door is then dragged in the direction of maximum closure. The projection 17, suitably sized, is contained with minimum play within the housing 44, making the coupling element and the door carriage integral for axial movement.
The opening of the door takes place by exerting a force greater than the traction force exerted by the spring 29. The carriage of the door, by means of the protruding part 17, drags the coupling element 16 in the opening direction, bumping against the tooth 42. When the teeth 40 arrive above the respective cavities 25, 26 of the upper sliding surfaces 23, 24, the hooking element rotates again around its fulcrum point 45 allowing the insertion of the teeth inside the cavities. The system has thus returned to the starting condition of figure 5 and the dragging projection 17 is freed from the housing 44. The door is therefore free to continue its opening stroke.
At this point it is clear how the intended purposes have been achieved.
To prevent the case of an accidental closure in which the hooking element 16 is in the position described in figure 4, but the protruding part 17 is not locked inside the housing 44, it is advantageous to make the tooth 42 with a surface inclined 43 and a cavity 46 inside the tooth so as to allow, by exerting an appropriate pressure on the inclined surface 43, the bending of the tooth itself, as easily imagined by the technician. In this way, by forcefully pushing the door in the direction of maximum closure, the protruding part 17 causes the tooth 42 to flex, sliding above it until it abuts against the surface 49. At this point the tooth is again free of assume its original form by rising above the protruding part 17 and locking it inside the housing 44.
Naturally, the above description of an embodiment applying the innovative principles of the present invention is given by way of example of such innovative principles and must therefore not be taken as a limitation of the patent scope claimed herein.
For example, the function of the surfaces 38 and 39 of the coupling element can also be obtained by means of other shapes, such as, for example, those illustrated in Figures 7 and 8, where substantially the surfaces are replaced by protuberances 38a, 38b, 39a, 39b which delimit the extreme points.
The protruding part 17 can be obtained as a piece in the trolley or be a separate element, specially made and fixed to the trolley or to the door.
