Description
"METODO PER OTTENERE UN MANUFATTO FILIFORME METALLICO A PIU' COLORI PER L'INDUSTRIA ORAFA E AFFINI E PRODOTTI REALIZZATI CON IL MANUFATTO SECONDO DETTO METODO" "METHOD FOR OBTAINING A MULTI-COLOR METALLIC FILIFORM PRODUCT FOR THE GOLD AND RELATED INDUSTRY AND PRODUCTS MADE WITH THE ARTICLE ACCORDING TO THE SAID METHOD"
The present invention relates to a method for obtaining a multi-colored metallic thread-like product for the goldsmith industry and the like. More precisely, the invention relates to a method for producing a precious metal wire, in particular gold, having at least two different colors, such as for example that of white gold and yellow gold.
The invention also relates to the various types of thread-like metal article obtainable with the aforesaid method, as well as the goldsmith's, costume jewelery and similar products made with the article according to said method.
The wire used in the goldsmith industry for the production of chains and other so-called "hollow" jewels can be obtained with a very common technique that involves the rolling of precious metal bars to produce a sheet which is then crimped or drawn on a longitudinally grooved core in non-noble metal, typically soft iron or copper, then the product thus obtained is brought to the desired diameter by means of successive passages in the die. With this method it is possible to produce bimetallic wire of different diameters to be used for example for the production of chains on traditional automatic machines. The chain thus obtained is then emptied, i.e. the internal core is removed by means of chemical agents. The yarn obtainable with this process, as well as with other known methods, is always of a single color.
The object of the present invention is to provide a method for obtaining a multi-colored metallic thread-like product for the goldsmith industry.
A particular object of the present invention is to provide a method for making a two-color wire, for example in white gold and yellow gold.
Another object of the present invention is to produce a filiform metal product with several colors which allows to obtain goldsmith products with at least two opposite faces of different colors.
A further object of the present invention is to provide goldsmith products having different colored faces.
The aforesaid objects are achieved with the method according to the present invention which provides for starting from bars in precious metal of a different color along at least one longitudinal side of each of which at least one groove is obtained with an edge having a height less than the thickness of the bar; the edge of each bar is then engaged in the groove of a bar of a different color and said edge is welded into said groove. The product thus obtained is subjected to lamination until a sheet of the desired thickness is obtained, which is drawn onto a core of non-precious metal and finally the bimetallic product thus obtained is passed through a die until a thread-like product of the desired diameter is obtained.
In this way, a wire is obtained which, despite being composed of parts in different metal alloys joined together by welding, has an adequate mechanical resistance in correspondence with the welding sections in order to be subjected to the torsion and bending stresses typical of goldsmith work. manual and mechanical to produce similar chains and jewels.
Preferably the drawing step of the composite sheet will be carried out in such a way that on its external face the middle section falls on the more malleable alloy, in the generality of the cases yellow gold. In this way it is avoided that, in the case of wires with an oval section and / or destined to be crushed, the state of tension, which in these cases is maximum at the center line, produces cracks or breaks in the weld at the connection section.
Preferably, to compensate for the lower mechanical resistance of a bar of a certain color with respect to a contiguous bar of a different color, the thickness of the bottom wall of the groove made in the first bar will be greater than the thickness of the corresponding wall made on the second.
Ulteriori caratteristiche e vantaggi del procedimento per ottenere manufatti filiformi in più colori per l'industria orafa e affini secondo la presente invenzione risulteranno più chiaramente dalla descrizione che segue di una sua forma realizzativa fatta a titolo esemplificativo e non limitativo con riferimento ai disegni annessi in cui: Further characteristics and advantages of the process for obtaining thread-like articles in several colors for the goldsmith industry and the like according to the present invention will become clearer from the following description of an embodiment thereof made by way of non-limiting example with reference to the annexed drawings in which :
Figure 1 is a perspective view of a generic bar with a longitudinal groove according to the present invention.
Figure 2 is a front perspective view of a pair of joined bars according to the present invention.
To produce, by way of example, a thread-like product in two different colors of gold, typically white and yellow, according to the method object of the invention, one proceeds as follows.
A white gold melting bar and a yellow gold melting bar, for example at 18K, of equal thickness, width and length chosen according to the dimensional characteristics of the laminar product to be obtained are taken, in a way well known to those skilled in the art. of the sector. For purely indicative and non-limiting purposes, two bars with a thickness of 8 mm, length 20 cm and width of 20 mm can be chosen.
With reference also to Figure 1, where a generic bar indicated with 1 is shown, a groove 2 parallel to a longitudinal side of the bar itself and in the immediate vicinity of it is formed on one face of each bar. Externally, the groove 2 obtained on each bar is delimited by an edge 3 whose height is less than the thickness of the bar itself. More specifically, as also illustrated in Figure 2, the height and width of the edge 3 of the groove 2 present on one of the two bars is substantially equal to the depth and width of the groove 2 obtained on the other bar, so that by engaging the edge 3 of one in the groove 2 of the other, the two bars are coplanar. In reality, a limited clearance is provided between the groove and the edge engaged therein to contain the welding material. For welding, the use of so-called "fusible" material is preferred, that is, melting at lower temperatures, typically 720 ° C, with respect to those of traditional melting filler materials at 770 ° -780 ° C.
The two-color composite bar thus obtained is subjected to lamination until a sheet of the desired thickness is obtained. As well known to those skilled in the art, at each passage in the rolling mill, the intermediate product is subjected to an annealing step. The sheet thus obtained is then trimmed along its longitudinal edges to eliminate any possible fraying and then folded, i.e. drawn, around a non-noble metal core, according to a technique known per se in the sector, said core having a double groove longitudinal within which the longitudinal edges of the lamina are crimped so as to anchor the two-color lamina to the internal core. By means of successive passages in the drawing followed by as many annealing phases, the bimetallic product thus obtained is transformed into the wire of the desired diameter that can be used to make goldsmith products such as chains and the like.
In order to avoid cracking of the thread-like product thus obtained during the processing subsequent to its production, it is important that the annealing operating conditions are carefully followed. In particular, as the thickness of the product is reduced with the subsequent rolling and drawing passages, it is also important that the annealing conditions become progressively less severe. As an indication, annealing times should be progressively reduced from the conventional 15 minutes to no more than 5 minutes in the annealing phases following the last passages in the drawing and similarly the annealing temperatures must progressively decrease from the conventional 700-650 ° C at about 580-600 ° C.
In a particularly preferred form of the invention, when connecting bars of different colors, such as those made of white gold and yellow gold characterized by a significantly different mechanical resistance, it is important that during the drawing the face facing the outside of the sheet composite presents the yellow gold at the center section. In fact, especially in the case of wire with an oval section or which in any case requires to be crushed diametrically, the tensions are maximum on the external face along the centerline and it is therefore important that the latter does not fall on the less malleable alloy in order to avoid cracks in phase. of forming or breakages during the formation of the links.
Again in order to compensate for the different mechanical resistance to bending of bars in different gold alloys coupled according to the method object of the invention, it is preferable that the bar with lower mechanical resistance, in this case the one in yellow gold, has a thickness of the back wall 4 of the groove 2 greater than the corresponding thickness of the bottom wall of the groove obtained on the bar with greater mechanical resistance.
With the method according to the present invention, thread-like articles in three different colors can obviously be produced, for example white gold, yellow gold and red gold, without substantially modifying the operations described above. Similarly, thread-like articles can be produced comprising an even greater alternation of sections of different colors starting from a correspondingly greater number of bars of a greater different color. It is evident that the chromatic effect deriving from these multiple compositions will be the more perceptible the greater the diameter of the filiform manufactured article produced. In other words, while for the production of wire intended for the production of chains the two-colored threadlike product will generally be preferred, in the case in which the wire produced is of greater diameter, as it is intended for the production of hollow rod for bracelets and earrings, the presence of three or more colors on the original filiform artifact can provide aesthetically appreciable effects.
"campanella" e monili similari . The filiform product with two or more colors according to the method object of the present invention must therefore be understood as being achievable not only in a small diameter for the production of links for ornamental chains, but also in larger diameters for the production of hollow tube bracelets, type earrings. . "bell" and similar jewels.
The most striking feature of goldsmith products made with thread-like products according to the method object of the present invention consists in the fact that they have at least two faces of different color, each of which can be subjected to a specific surface processing, such as knurling, diamond coating and the like according to known techniques, to enhance the chromatic differences of the product. In particular, in the case of starting from a two-colored thread-like product for the production of chains, it is possible to obtain "double-face" chains, in which each of the two sides of the chain has its own color and possibly its own surface processing.
Many embodiments of the method according to the invention can be envisaged. For example, a thread-like product can be produced in which the sections of different colors are arranged diagonally, rather than longitudinally, with respect to the axis of the thread. This can be achieved by connecting together a plurality of bars of different colors according to a predetermined chromatic alternation and by diagonally cutting the composite product thus obtained. The resulting composite bar, to be subjected to lamination, will thus have different alternating chromatic bands arranged diagonally which will be found in the same configuration in the resulting filiform product. Of course, the resulting chromatic effect will be all the more perceptible the greater the diameter of the thread-like manufactured article which finds application in relatively large chains, in cane bracelets and in earrings.
Numerous other variations and / or modifications to the method for the production of thread-like articles in several colors for the goldsmith industry and to the related products made with said article may be made without thereby departing from the protective scope of the present invention.
