Sono ben note alcune tipiche modalità di richiesta di donazioni effettuate presso i locali di svariate tipologia di esercizi commerciali. Secondo tali modalità, nei pressi delle casse o dell’uscita di un punto vendita quale un supermercato, uno store o megastore di qualsiasi tipologia (ad esempio di beni di elettronica, bricolage, mobili ecc.) vengono collocati dei banchi presidiati da volontari, aventi lo scopo di sollecitare la clientela in uscita ad elargire una donazione a favore di un determinato ente a cui i proprietari o i gestori del punto vendita hanno conferito uno specifico permesso. Su tale utile incide anche la manutenzione delle strutture che è necessario allestire, così come Teventuale acquisto di beni (di norma piante, o confezioni di frutta) che, seppur simbolicamente, vengono consegnati ai donatori quale corrispettivo della donazione.
