?Pocket kit with fastening clip for making a face mask?

This application concerns a kit for the easy assembly of a face mask. More specifically, this application concerns a pocket-sized kit, equipped with fastening clips, for the easy assembly of a community and/or surgical face mask. A face mask (or mask) is a device intended to be worn by healthcare workers or general users in order to prevent the dispersion of pathogenic agents (such as bacteria or viruses) dispersed in respiratory droplets and aerosols that may escape from the mouth and nose of the wearer.

The so-called "community" masks are intended to reduce the circulation of a virus in everyday life and are not subject to particular certifications (as required by Article 16, paragraph 2 of the Legislative Decree of 17 March 2020). They should not be considered either medical devices or personal protective equipment, but a hygienic measure useful for reducing the spread of a virus.

The subject of this document is a pocket-sized kit equipped with fastening clips for the creation of a mask of the community and/or surgical type.

Currently, community masks must in most cases have the following technical characteristics:

- must ensure an adequate barrier for the nose and mouth;

- they must be made of multilayer materials that must not be toxic, allergenic or flammable;

- must not make breathing difficult;

- they must adhere to the face, covering from chin to nose, while ensuring comfort.

As regards the use of surgical masks and similar disposable ones, their production is not sustainable on an environmental level and is also challenging on an economic level as it involves a huge use of materials that are difficult to dispose of in the environment, with a consequent increase in polluting agents, as well as a great economic expenditure for the individual citizen, for large companies and for PA offices which often, in order to comply with ministerial guidelines on health, must bear the costs dedicated to them. The purpose of the invention object of this is to provide a kit equipped with fastening clips for the creation of a community face mask; the kit is also a useful device for reducing the environmental impact of the production of surgical masks, as it allows the production of elastic bands to be eliminated from the production chain.

The use of the kit according to this description will therefore allow companies that produce surgical masks to launch a mask on the market without elastic bands, thus reducing production costs related to elastic bands, as well as the environmental impact caused by them.

A further purpose of this model is to provide a pocket-sized kit for the easy assembly of a community face mask using pre-packaged fabrics such as scarves, clutch bags and handkerchiefs.

For these purposes, this model illustrates a pocket-sized kit for assembling a community face mask, made using pre-packaged fabrics used outside of their original conditions of use.

The invention consists of a kit that can be inserted into a pocket-sized case containing at least four fabric fastening clips, similar to those used by textile companies for making braces and guepi?res, equipped with through holes for fastening the ends of elastic bands or laces.

The kit allows you to transform scarves, pocket squares and disposable handkerchiefs into a ready-to-wear face mask.

The face mask obtained by applying the aforementioned kit is reusable an infinite number of times and can be combined with any type of elastic or tie which is also reusable.

The face mask obtained by applying the kit adapts and adheres to any type of handkerchief, whether made of fabric or disposable paper.

They are especially indicated where the need to use a mask arises unexpectedly and extemporaneously.

The kit for the formation of a mask according to this patent application has the following peculiarities:

- ? easy to assemble,

- ? pocket-sized, as it is limited in size,

- ? industrializable,

- ? can be inserted in a convenient packaging,

The fixing clips included in the kit have the following features:

- they are made of hypoallergenic steel, for surgical use, or other hypoallergenic materials,

- have an ergonomic design.

Further features and advantages of the present invention will become clearer from the detailed description of a preferred but not exclusive embodiment of the invention according to the present model, illustrated in the attached drawings which respectively describe:

figure 1 is a schematic reproduction of a kit and its components in pre-assembly; figure 2 is the phases for assembling a mask using the kit illustrated in figure 1; figure 3 is a schematic reproduction of a mask obtained by assembling the kit and its components in previous figures;

figure 4? the mask in figure 3 worn by a user.

The kit as illustrated in the claims of the utility model patent application attached hereto, comprises the following components:

- at least four clips 1 for fixing fabrics,

- at least two elastic bands or ties 2.

Figure 1 illustrates a schematic reproduction of a preferred embodiment of a kit and its pre-assembled components that can be inserted into a pocket-sized casing and applied to a piece of fabric 3, of a shape and size suitable for covering the nose and mouth of a user.

Figure 2 illustrates the steps for assembling a mask using the kit illustrated in figure 1; in more detail the steps are as follows:

- take a piece of disposable tissue or paper;

- unfold the piece of fabric and fold it in half;

- fold the four corners of the folded piece of fabric in half;

- take two elastic bands/ties and four clips;

- insert and tie the ends of the two ties into the hole of each of the four clips (if not already inserted as per pre-assembly);

- attach the corners of the piece of fabric, two on each short side, to the clips on each of the two ties.

Figure 3 shows a schematic reproduction of a mask obtained by assembling the components of the kit according to the invention referred to in this application.

Figure 4 illustrates the assembled mask worn by a user.

In a further version, the kit can be provided with a single elastic band, of suitable length, with the two ends tied to the holes of two clips and passing through the holes of the remaining two clips.

The face mask obtained by applying the aforementioned kit can be combined with any type of reusable elastic or tie and adapts and adheres to any type of handkerchief, whether made of fabric or disposable paper.

The mask obtained using the kit in question is especially indicated where the need for use arises unexpectedly and extemporaneously.

It is specified that the kit for the formation of a face mask according to the present application can be subject to modifications and variations within the limits of the previously described inventive concepts, concerning materials, details and construction solutions equivalent to those proposed, all falling within the inventive concept expressed in the attached claims. All the details can be replaced by other technically equivalent elements according to the needs, without departing from the scope of protection of the present.

Even if the invention has been described with particular reference to the attached figures, the reference numbers used in the description and in the claims are used to improve the intelligence of the invention and do not constitute any limitation to the scope of protection claimed.

Claims (4)

1. Pocket-sized kit for making a face mask including: - at least four clip devices (1), made of hypoallergenic material for fixing fabrics, each of them being provided with at least one through hole (1.1) for the insertion and knotting of each of the ends (2.1) of - at least two elastic bands or ties (2), - a pocket-sized casing made of rigid or alternatively soft material, characterised in that said components (1, 2), assembled, are inserted into said pocket-sized casing and, alternatively extracted from the pocket-sized casing, are applicable to a piece of fabric (3) forming the main body of the mask, for example a scarf, or alternatively a pocket square, or a disposable handkerchief. 2. Pocket kit for making a face mask as per claim 1 characterised by the fact that, alternatively to the two elastic bands or ties (2), it is provided with a single elastic band or ties, of suitable length, having the two ends knotted to the holes (1.1) of two clip devices (1) and passing through the holes (1.1) of the remaining two clip devices (1). 3. Pocket-sized kit for making a face mask as per previous claims characterised in that the piece of fabric (3) is folded into a shape and size suitable for covering the nose and mouth of a user so as to form the main body of the mask. 4. Pocket kit for making a face mask as per previous claims, characterised in that the corners of the piece of fabric (3) are folded for attaching the clip devices (2), two per short side.
