PERFECT PROFILE FOR TERRACES AND BALCONIES

DESCRIPTION

The present invention relates to an improved profile for terraces and balconies.

In the present description, with terms relating to orientation in space, such as, for example ?lower?, ?lower?, ?upper?, ?internal? or ?external?, we refer to the use structure of the profile.

Nowadays, ? the use of profiles to be laid along the external perimeter of terraces or balconies is widespread to protect the edges of the tiles and to ensure correct downward flow of water.

Generally these profiles are provided with: - a perforated fin for anchoring to the balcony, above which the tiles are laid, which guarantees the fixing of the profile to the support and has a line of openings for the outflow of water that may have filtered under the tiles,

- a front portion suitable for positioning in front of the outer edge of the flooring with the interposition of sealant, - a drip element, consisting of at least one drip relief protruding outwards at the most? low profile, with the aim of slowing down the water and moving it away towards the outside, to make the water drip away from the walls, favoring its vertical descent.

In figure 1 ? illustrated an example of such profiles of known type.

In the example the profile ? globally indicated with the reference letter A, the flap with the reference B, a slotted discharge opening with C, the front portion with D and the drip relief with E.

These known techniques have some aspects which can be improved.

It very often happens, especially in the event of heavy rainfall, that a profile like the one illustrated in figure 1 does not guarantee a correct outflow of rainwater which tends to return towards the front of the structure.

To reduce this problem, the profile should be installed protruding from the structure by at least one centimetre, which very often does not happen during application on site.

Between the front portion D of the profile and the tiles ? a sealant has been placed in between, which tends to percolate downwards, blocking the drain openings C.

To overcome these drawbacks ? the profile described in the Italian patent n.

102017000094883 by the same applicant.

This profile? equipped with a double drip at the end? of the drip and a spacer which guarantee a correct outflow of rainwater: therefore, even in the event of abundant rainfall, the water does not tend to return towards the structure.

Also the same profile? coupled with a drainage sponge which prevents the sealant from clogging the drain openings.

However, even this profile has some aspects that could be improved.

This profile in fact not ? always able to guarantee a correct outflow of the water drained under the tiles.

Also, if the sealant deteriorates, the drain openings may not be able to drain all of the water properly.

The task of this invention? that of creating a profile for terraces and balconies able to make up for and improve the deficiencies mentioned above and therefore to create a profile that allows the water drained under the tile to flow away more? effectively compared to similar profiles of a known type.

Another purpose of the invention? that of developing a profile that allows a total flow of water in the event of deterioration of the sealant.

Furthermore, the object of the present invention is to overcome the drawbacks of the prior art in an alternative way to any existing solutions.

Not the last purpose of the invention ? that of creating a profile for terraces and balconies that is highly reliable, relatively easy to make and at competitive costs.

This task, as well as these and other purposes which will appear better hereinafter, are achieved by a profile for terraces and balconies, which includes:

- a substantially flat fin for anchoring said profile to the floor of said terraces,

- a front protective portion for the outer edge of the pavement and protruding outwards with respect to it,

- a first drip consisting of a shaped element that develops downwards including, at the extremity? bottom, at least a first relief and at least a second relief, lower than the first, protruding downwards and outwards with respect to said front portion, said profile being characterized in that it comprises a second drip, substantially parallel to said first drip, which it develops downwards from said fin, and comprises a third relief, projecting downwards and towards said first drip.

Further characteristics and advantages of the invention will become clearer from the description of a preferred, but not exclusive, embodiment of the profile for terraces and balconies, according to the invention, illustrated, by way of non-limiting example, in the attached drawings, in which:

- figure 2 is a sectional view of an application of use of a profile for terraces and balconies, according to the invention;

- figure 3 shows a perspective view of the profile of figure 2.

With reference to the cited figures, a profile for terraces and balconies, according to the invention, is indicated globally with the reference number 10.

That profile 10 ? made in extruded aluminium.

In construction variants, profile 10 can? be made of plastic and/or metallic material.

Profile 10 includes:

- a substantially flat and perforated fin 11 for anchoring the profile to the floor, - a front portion 12 to protect the outer edge 13 of the flooring, made up of tiles 29, and protruding outwards with respect to it,

- a first drip 14 consisting of a shaped element which extends downwards.

The flap 11, as visible in the perspective view of figure 3, has first openings 15 and holes 16 with a diameter preferably between 2 mm and 10 mm which allow the profile to be mechanically fixed by nails and/or screws before laying the floor .

The flap 11 has, at least in some areas Z1, Z2, longitudinal dovetail incisions 17 to facilitate the mechanical anchoring of the adhesive and therefore of a connecting strip, of a known type.

The first drip 14 has a substantially vertical arrangement and comprises, at the end bottom, at least a first relief 18 and at least a second relief 19, lower than the first, protruding downwards and outwards with respect to the front portion 12.

In particular, the first drip 14 develops downwards from the front portion 12 and coincides with an area of the latter.

Advantageously, the second relief 19 projects outwards more than the first relief 18.

The second relief 19 has an inclination with respect to a horizontal plane between 20? and 65?.

According to a first variant, the first relief 18 and the second relief 19 consist of two cusps, as illustrated in figure 2.

In a second embodiment variant, not shown in the figures, the first and second reliefs consist of two appendages.

One of the peculiarities of the invention consists in the fact that it comprises a second drip 20, substantially parallel to the first drip 14.

This second drip 20 ? consisting of a shaped element which extends downwards starting from the fin 11, in the area to be positioned at the edge of the terrace 21 and has, starting from the fin 11:

- a first section 20a, parallel to the terrace 21,

- a second section 20b, with the development direction at least partially facing the first drip 14.

The second drip 20 comprises at the end? at the bottom a third relief 22, protruding downwards and the first drip 14.

The third relief 22 has an inclination with respect to a horizontal plane between 20? and 65?.

Advantageously, the first drip 14 has a greater extension than the second drip 20 and hides its view when in use.

? note how the presence of such a second drip allows the outflow of water and residues drained under the tiles 29.

In particular, the first drip 14 has at the end also lower is a fourth relief 25, projecting downwards and the edge of the terrace 21 and presenting an inclination with respect to a horizontal plane between 20? and 65?.

The fourth relief 25 ? designed to strengthen the structure of the first drip 14.

The front portion 12 has a substantially T-shaped section rotated through 90? comprising a central connection 23 to the fin 11, corresponding to the core of the T, and a substantially vertical element, corresponding to the wing of the T, which has an extension in the order of 10 cm and comprises:

- an upper portion 24,

- a lower portion coinciding with the first drip 14.

On the inner side of the upper portion 24, dovetail incisions 28 are defined, to improve adhesion with a sealant for coatings.

The central link 23 ? inclined downwards, with respect to the plane on which the fin 11 lies, and has two longitudinal lines of water drainage openings 26, 27:

- a first line of second openings 26, close to the first drip 14,

- a second line of third openings 27, parallel to the first, in which these third openings 27 are close to the second drip 20.

These second openings 26 and third openings 27 preferably have a length of between 2 mm and 40 mm, a width of between 1 mm and 10 mm and a center distance between 5 cm and 20 cm.

In the embodiment illustrated in the figures, the first openings 26 do not correspond to the second openings 27, however in embodiments not shown in the figures a profile according to the invention has mutual correspondence between the first openings 26 and the second openings 27 so that are pairwise parallel.

? it should be noted that the presence of two lines of openings 26, 27 allows the use of the profile 10 also in an application with a drainage device under the tiles.

In fact, a profile according to the invention allows any water passing between the tiles to flow out through the second openings 27, avoiding clogging of the first openings 26.

As illustrated in figure 2, in laying the profile 10 according to the invention ? it is convenient to use a draining sponge tape 30 on the central connection 23 and close to the inner side of the upper portion 24, on which to superimpose a layer of sealing silicone 31.

The drainage sponge tape 30 prevents the sealant from clogging the first openings 26 and the second openings 27.

Advantageously between the tiles 29 of the floor and the profile 10 it can be be interposed a drainage membrane 32, per se? known, glued to them and to the base 33 of the floor by means of two opposite layers 34a, 34b, of tile adhesive per se? known type.

The positioning and operation of the profile according to the invention is evident from what has been described and illustrated.

With a similar profile according to the invention, comprising two similar drip trays 14 and 20 and two similar lines of openings 26, 27, ? allowed water outflow:

- coming from above the tiles 29, - infiltrating through the tiles 29, - infiltrating through the deteriorated sealant 31.

Yes ? in practice it has been observed that the invention achieves the intended aim and objects by providing a profile which allows any water that may have filtered under the tiles to drain more easily? fast and effective compared to similar profiles of a known type.

Also, with the invention, yes ? developed a profile that allows a total flow of water in case of deterioration of the sealant.

The found, what? conceived, ? susceptible to numerous modifications and variations, all of which are within the scope of the inventive concept; furthermore, all the details may be replaced by other technically equivalent elements.

In practice, the materials used, provided? compatible with the specific use, as well as? the contingent dimensions and shapes may be any according to the requirements and to the state of the art.

Where features and techniques mentioned in any claim are followed by reference marks, have those marks been affixed for the sole purpose of enhancing intelligibility? of the claims and consequently such reference marks have no limiting effect on the interpretation of each element identified by way of example by such reference marks.

Claims (11)

1. Profile (10) for terraces (21) and balconies, which includes: - a substantially flat fin (11) for anchoring said profile (10) to the floor of said terraces (21), - a front portion (12) for protection for the outer edge (13) of the flooring and protruding outwards with respect to it, - a first drip (14) constituted by a shaped element which develops downwards comprising, at the extremity? bottom, at least one first relief (18) and at least one second relief (19), lower than the first, protruding downwards and outwards with respect to said front portion (12), said profile (10) being characterized in that it comprises a second drip (20), substantially parallel to said first drip (14), which extends downwards from said fin (11), and comprises a third relief (22), protruding downwards and towards said first drip (14). 2. Profile (10), according to claim 1, characterized in that said second drip (20) ? consisting of a shaped element and presents, starting from said fin (11): - a first section (20a), designed to be parallel to a terrace (21), - a second portion (20b), with its development direction at least partially facing said first drip (14). 3. Profile (10), according to one or more? of the preceding claims, characterized in that said first drip (14) develops downwards from said front portion (12) and coincides with an area of the latter. 4. Profile (10), according to one or more? of the preceding claims, characterized in that said second relief (19) protrudes outwards more than said first relief (18). 5. Profile (10), according to one or more? of the preceding claims, characterized in that said flap (11) has: - first openings (15), - and/or holes (16), - and/or longitudinal incisions (17) at least in some areas (Z1, Z2). 6. Profile (10), according to one or more of the preceding claims, characterized in that the second relief (19) and/or said third relief (22) have an inclination with respect to a horizontal plane comprised between 20? and 65?. 7. Profile (10), according to one or more? of the preceding claims, characterized in that said first drip (14) has a greater extension than said second drip (20). 8. Profile (10), according to one or more of the preceding claims, characterized by the fact that said first drip (14) has at the end also lower is a fourth relief (25) protruding downwards and able to protrude towards the edge of said terrace (21). 9. Profile (10), according to one or more of the preceding claims, characterized in that said front portion (12) has a substantially T-shaped section rotated at 90? comprising a central connection (23) to said wing (11), corresponding to the core of said T, and a substantially vertical element, corresponding to the wing of said T, which in turn comprises: - an upper portion (24), - a lower portion coinciding with said first drip (14). 10. Profile (10), according to one or more of the preceding claims, characterized in that on the inner side of said upper portion (24) incisions (28) are defined. 11. Profile (10), according to one or more? of the preceding claims, characterized by the fact that said central connection (23) ? inclined downwards, with respect to the lying plane of said fin (11) and has two longitudinal lines of openings (26, 27): - a first line of second openings (26), close to said first drip (14), - a second line of third openings (27), parallel to the first, said third openings (27) being close to said second drip (20).
