Description
Technical Field
The invention relates to a profile for terraces and balconies.
Background
In this specification, terms describing orientation in space (such as "lower", "higher", "inner" or "outer") refer to configurations for use of the molding.
Nowadays, shaped pieces are widely used to be laid along the outer periphery of a platform or balcony in order to protect the edges of the tiles and ensure the correct downward drainage of the water.
Typically, such a shaped part is provided with:
a perforated wing for anchoring to a balcony on which tiles are laid, which ensures the fixing of the shaped element to the support and which has a row of openings for the evacuation of all the water that may penetrate under the tiles;
-a front portion adapted to be positioned in front of an outer edge of the ground by applying a sealant;
-a drip lip element consisting of at least one drip edge projection projecting outwards at the lowest point of the profile, the purpose of which is to slow down the speed of the water and redirect it outwards so as to drip it away from the wall, while facilitating its vertical descent.
Fig. 1 shows an example of such a conventional molded article.
In this example, the profile is generally indicated by the reference letter a, the wing by the letter B, the slotted discharge opening by C, the front portion by D and the drip edge projection by E.
Some aspects of such conventional techniques show room for improvement.
Very often, especially when there is very heavy rainfall, a profile of the type shown in fig. 1 will not allow effective drainage of run-off rainwater which tends to return towards the front of the building.
To alleviate this problem, the profile should be installed to protrude at least one centimeter from the building, but very often not during field installation.
Between the front portion D of the profile and the tile a sealant is applied, which tends to penetrate downwards, blocking these discharge openings C.
To overcome these drawbacks, shaped parts are known which are described in EP 3 447 211 B1 filed by the same applicant.
The profile is provided with a double drip edge at the end of the drip lip and with a spacer which ensures correct drainage of runoff rainwater: even under very heavy rainfall, so the water is not liable to return towards the building.
The same molding is also coupled to a drainage sponge that prevents the sealant from blocking the drain opening.
However, the profile also shows some room for improvement.
In fact, such shaped elements do not always ensure the correct outflow of the water that has penetrated under the tile.
Furthermore, in the case of sealant degradation, the drain opening may not allow all of the water to adequately drain away.
Disclosure of Invention
The object of the present invention is to provide a profile for platforms and balconies which compensates and ameliorates the above-mentioned disadvantages and which therefore provides a profile which allows water which has penetrated under the tiles to flow away more effectively than similar conventional profiles.
Within this aim, an object of the invention is to provide a shaped part which allows the entire outflow of water in the event of deterioration of the sealant.
It is another object of the present invention to overcome the disadvantages of the background art in a manner that replaces any of the existing solutions.
Another object of the invention is to provide a profile for platforms and balconies which is highly reliable, easy to implement and low-cost.
This aim and these and other objects that will become better apparent hereinafter are achieved by a profile for platforms and balconies, comprising:
-a substantially flat wing for anchoring the profile to the ground of the platform;
-a front portion for protecting an outer edge of the ground and projecting outwards with respect to the outer edge;
-a first drop lip consisting of a profiled element extending downwards and comprising at least one first projection at a lower end and at least one second projection lower than the at least one first projection, both projecting downwards and outwards with respect to the front portion,
the molding is characterized in that the molding further comprises a second drop lip extending downwardly from the wing portion substantially parallel to the first drop lip, and the second drop lip comprises a third projection projecting downwardly and towards the first drop lip.
Drawings
Further characteristics and advantages of the invention will become better apparent from the following detailed description of a preferred, but not exclusive, embodiment of the profile for platforms and balconies according to the invention, illustrated by way of non-limiting example in the accompanying drawings, wherein:
fig. 1 is a perspective view of a conventional molded article;
figure 2 is a cross-sectional view of the application of the profile for platforms and balconies according to the invention;
fig. 3 is a perspective view of the molding of fig. 2.
Detailed Description
With reference to the figures, a profile for platforms and balconies according to the invention is generally indicated by the reference numeral 10.
Such a molded article 10 is made of an extruded aluminum material.
In other embodiments, the shaped part 10 may be made of a plastic material and/or a metal material.
The molding member 10 includes:
a front portion 12 for protecting the outer edge 13 of the floor constituted by the tiles 29 and which projects outwards with respect to the outer edge;
a first drop lip 14, consisting of a downwardly extending profiled element.
As can be seen in the perspective view of fig. 3, the wing 11 is provided with a first opening 15 and holes 16, the diameter of which is preferably comprised between 2mm and 10mm, so that the shaped pieces can be mechanically fixed by nails and/or screws before laying the ground.
The wings 11 are provided, at least in some zones Z1, Z2, with dovetail-shaped longitudinal cuts 17 to facilitate mechanical anchoring of the adhesive and thus of the connecting strip, as is conventional.
The first landing lip 14 has a substantially vertical configuration and comprises at least one first projection 18 at the lower end and at least one second projection 19 lower than the at least one first projection, both projecting downwards and outwards with respect to the front portion 12.
In particular, the first landing lip 14 has an extension downwards from the front portion 12 and coinciding with an area of the front portion.
Advantageously, the second projection 19 projects further outwards than the first projection 18.
The inclination of the second projection 19 with respect to the horizontal plane is comprised between 20 ° and 65 °.
According to a first variant, the first 18 and second 19 projections comprise two tips, as shown in fig. 2.
In a second embodiment, not shown in the figures, the first and second projections consist of two tabs.
One of the features of the present invention is that it includes a second drip lip 20 that is substantially parallel to the first drip lip 14.
The second drip lip 20 is constituted by a profiled element which extends downwards from the wing 11 in the area to be positioned at the edge of the platform 21 and which, starting from the wing 11, has:
a first portion 20a, parallel to the platform 21,
a second portion 20b extending in a direction at least partially directed towards the first landing lip 14.
The second drip lip 20 comprises a third projection 22 at the lower end, which projects downwards and towards the first drip lip 14.
The inclination of the third projection 22 with respect to the horizontal plane is comprised between 20 ° and 65 °.
Advantageously, the first drip lip 14 has a larger extension than the second drip lip 20 and is in a configuration that hides the second drip lip from view in use.
It should be noted that the presence of such a second drip lip allows water and residues that have penetrated under the tile 29 to flow out.
In particular, the first drop lip 14 also has, at the lower end, a fourth projection 25 projecting downwards and adapted to project towards the edge of the platform 21, and the inclination of which with respect to the horizontal plane is comprised between 20 ° and 65 °.
The fourth projection 25 is adapted to reinforce the structure of the first landing lip 14.
The front portion 12 has a cross section substantially shaped like a letter T rotated by 90 °, comprising: a central connection portion 23 connected to the wing portion 11, the central connection portion corresponding to the core of the T-shape; and a substantially vertical element corresponding to the wing of the T and having an extension of about 10cm, and comprising:
-an upper portion 24;
a lower portion, coinciding with the first landing lip 14.
A dovetail-shaped cut-out 28 is defined on the inside of the upper portion 24 to improve the adhesion of the sealant for covering.
The central connection portion 23 is inclined downwards with respect to the plane in which the wings 11 are arranged and has two rows of openings 26, 27 in the longitudinal direction for the drainage of water:
a first row of second openings 26 adjacent to the first landing lip 14;
a third opening 27 of the second row, parallel to the second opening of the first row, wherein the third opening 27 is adjacent to the second drip lip 20.
The second and third openings 26, 27 preferably have a length comprised between 2 and 40mm, a width comprised between 1 and 10mm and a central distance comprised between 5 and 20 cm.
In the embodiment shown in the figures, the first opening 26 does not correspond to the second opening 27; however, in other embodiments not shown in the figures, the shaped part according to the invention has a first opening 26 and a second opening 27 corresponding to each other, so that they are in pairs parallel to each other.
It should be noted that the presence of the two rows of openings 26, 27 also enables the profile 10 to be used in applications with evacuation means under the tiles.
Indeed, the profile according to the invention allows any water to pass between the tiles to flow out through the second openings 27, thus preventing a situation in which the first openings 26 are blocked.
As shown in fig. 2, during installation of the moulding 10 according to the invention, a draining sponge strip 30 is conveniently used on the central connection 23 and adjacent to the inside of the upper part 24, and a layer of silicone sealant 31 is applied on the inside of the upper part.
The drainage sponge tape 30 prevents the sealant from blocking the first opening 26 and the second opening 27.
Advantageously, between the tiles 29 and the shaped part 10 of the floor, a drainage membrane 32, known per se, can be interposed, glued to the tiles and to the shaped part and to the base 33 of the floor using two opposite layers 34a, 34b of adhesive for the tiles, known per se.
The laying and the operation of the shaped part according to the invention are apparent from the above description and explanation.
With such a moulding according to the invention comprising two such drip lips 14 and 20 and two rows of such openings 26, 27, the following water is allowed to flow out:
water originating above the tiles 29;
water seeping through the tiles 29;
water that has penetrated through the deteriorated sealant 31.
In practice it has been found that the invention fully achieves the intended aim and objects, by providing a shaped element that allows water that may have penetrated under the tile to drain more quickly and effectively than similar conventional shaped elements.
Furthermore, by means of the invention, a molding has been designed which enables the complete outflow of water in the event of deterioration of the sealant.
The invention thus conceived is susceptible of numerous modifications and variations, all of which are within the scope of the appended claims. Moreover, all the details may be replaced with other technically equivalent elements.
In practice, the materials employed may be any according to requirements and to the state of the art, provided they are compatible with the specific use, and also the possible sizes and shapes.
