"Composizione di materiale per l'uso in lettiere per gatti, "Composition of material for use in cat litter,
TESTO DELLA DESCRIZIONE TEXT OF THE DESCRIPTION
Premessa: Premise:
The present invention relates to a granulate composition for cat litter.
The compositions for cat litter are generally granular products which must have a good capacity to absorb liquids, to reduce odors and to be easily and environmentally friendly. All the characteristics indicated above depend on the type of material used, in particular on the size of the granules, on the density and on the chemical-physical characteristics.
Several types of bedding are known on the market, among which we can mention: sea foam (sepiolite), which is a highly product that is able to absorb up to 90% of its weight and in fact only 10-15% is turns into slush; bentonite (aluminum phyllosilicate) which has a good absorbency (equal to 70% of its weight) but also a very low hardness so that in contact with the urine it forms rounded masses, which must be removed from the container every time they are formed as sticky, among other things, the ball of the tray is difficult due to the residues of hardened clays remained firmly anchored to the bottom of the tray, and then there is probably the danger that part of the small grains of bentonite remain anchored to the cat's paws. Synthetic litter such as CATSAN (calcium silicate) and SILICON litter PRODUCED IN CHINA), which, while having a high hardness, have only a small percentage of dust (dust composed mainly of silica crystals, highly harmful ), on the other hand having a good but not sufficient absorbency means that the liquid remains on the bottom of the litter box generating unpleasant odors, the ecological impact of this litter is the most devastating for the environment, given that it is in the production phase a strong emission of greenhouse gases and other dangerous gases is generated in the atmosphere both in the disposal phase. In fact, during disposal, the part that enters landfills contributes to their clogging and the part that passes to the incinerator contributes to increasing the carbon dioxide in the atmosphere having low caloric value.
The particularly felt ecological problem, given the large use of clays and silica silicate (produced in China), has led to the search for substitutes in this sector which have a low environmental impact and which at the same time present at least an acceptable level of absorbency.
Sono state progettate alcune lettiere vegetali aventi una assorbenza accettabile, ma esse, all’assorbimento delle urine del gatto, sono risultate fortemente maleodoranti. Some vegetable litters have been designed with an acceptable absorbency, but when the cat's urine was absorbed, they were found to be strongly smelly.
The purpose of the present invention is therefore to provide a material that is easy to dispose of for the user, allowing a practically zero impact on the environment, but which at the same time has a high absorbency and is also able to eliminate odors.
The purposes indicated above and further advantages are achieved by the composition of granulate for cat litter comprising a mixture of starch-based plant products, straw in general and / or miscanthus straw and the following components: diatomaceous earth (Diatoms) , a cellulose ether, citric acid, calcium sulfate, titanium dioxide in nano particles.
Vantaggi e caratteristiche sono indicati nelle rivendicazioni dipendenti. Advantages and characteristics are indicated in the dependent claims.
Valutazione qualitativa della lettiera Qualitative assessment of the litter
Absorbent power and with better odor elimination capacity. The natural structure of the plant fibrils guarantees a significantly higher water absorption than the most common bedding on the market today. Unpleasant odors first remain trapped inside the fibers and subsequently neutralize them by the molecules of the active ingredient, where by double decomposition (MH4) 2CO3 CaSO4 = CaCO3 (MH4) 2SO4 pass the ammonia from the carbonate state to that of sulphate which is fixed and stable and odor-free. In addition, the active ingredient contained in a percentage of the litter formulation, due to the action it performs, destroys germs and parasites. For what has been described above, it can certainly be excluded that the litter of the patent object may present the problem of infestation of parasites such as lepidoptera and beetles, even if in transmigration, due to the combination and interaction between the Diatoms and the given citric acid. which, by their intrinsic nature, are able to inhibit the development of larvae and cause death in adult insects. This step is very important and significant indeed absolutely necessary because in fact, with the approach of the hot season, cereal derivatives tend to show parasite infestation problems (this year 2018 unfortunately, several chains of the Organized Distribution GDO, have had to withdraw all cat litter products having cereals as ingredients in the composition due to the fact that, all of them have more or less attacks of parasites).
Compostable and 100% biodegradable. the litter contributes enormously to reducing the production of waste. Volume and weight can cause a significant increase in costs. Thanks to the reduced consumption of the litter only 10% compared to traditional mineral and synthetic litter; the volume of waste can be reduced by up to 98%. This saves costs and respects the environment. Compared to traditional mineral and synthetic litter that can be disposed of today only together with household waste, to tell the truth there is still no legislation that states with absolute precision how to dispose of litter waste. In the near future, the disposal of mineral and synthetic litter will be made difficult. In fact, the European Commission in charge is evaluating the issue of disposal of mineral and similar to mineral bedding. The litter fully complies with the first directive of the Consolidated Law on environmental matters, which provides for the reduction of the mass of circulating waste. Secondly, the litter does not affect the normal recycling cycle: the exhausted litter can flow into the separate waste collection. Thirdly, its production process is low in energy consumption. In fact, no hydrocarbon combustion machines or machines that in any case emit CO2 into the atmosphere are used. If you think about how much energy is needed to extract, dry and how much carbon dioxide is released into the atmosphere to produce mineral and synthetic litter, moreover where there is no separate collection, it can unlike mineral litter, end up in household waste without problem. : it is combustible material, it does not cause any damage to incinerators or waste-to-energy plants as opposed to mineral or synthetic bedding which create encrustations in the cells and lower operating temperatures, forcing the operators to introduce greater quantities of fuel into the combustion chambers to avoid dioxin production, with a consequent increase in emissions of CO2 and other greenhouse gases or pollutants into the atmosphere, finally, using this litter helps to maintain cleaner and more breathable air in our cities.
Simplicity of treatment. The litter can be disposed of without problems through the organic waste bin or composted, alternatively it can also be disposed of in a domestic toilet, similar to toilet paper as it is plant material.
In the case of traditional litter, approx. 22 kg of litter per month, with the litter an amount of approx. 2.0 kg. This quantity must be purchased, transported home, distributed and finally disposed of after use. This is one of the advantages of the litter box
Ciò consente di ridurre la superfìcie d'ingombro per il trasporto e una migliore efficienza economica. it is composed of a granulate of corn, straw and / or mischanthus, therefore very light and easy to handle compared to mineral bedding. This allows to reduce the footprint for transport and improve economic efficiency.
100% natural organic material maize, straw in general and / or mlscanthus straw. It is a pure natural product derived from raw materials including vegetable recovery without synthetic chemical additives, for the production only corn and straw in general and / or mlschantuhs are used. Recent scientific research shows that the cultivation of maize and mainly miscanthus straw and therefore also the bedding has a clearly better CO2 balance than mineral and assimilable bedding.
Grazie alla sua capacità assorbente e antibatterica, la lettiera agglomerante Hygienic aspect of the litter box The cat stays clean and maintains a healthy environment without bad smells. Thanks to its absorbent and antibacterial capacity, the clumping litter
Una confezione di kg 3 (litri 8) ha una durata di circa 90 giorni. it is able to contain high quantities of liquids, to inhibit the formation of bad odors. This litter weighs very little, because thanks to its particular consistency, composition and shape of the granules, it does not stick to the cat's paws and does not contain unpleasant scents to the cat. After each use the liquids are captured in a uniform, flat and compact mass that can be easily removed, so the litter is always dry and clean. A 3 kg package (8 liters) has a shelf life of approximately 90 days.
DESCRIZIONE DESCRIPTION
The term starch-based vegetable product refers to an industrial processing compound derived from cereals, mainly composed of starch, a polymer of glucose.
The starch-based vegetable product according to the invention is preferably corn (white and yellow), but barley, broad beans and wheat are also contemplated. Starch-based vegetable products can be used both in grains from the fields and in flour derived from subsequent industrial processes (even by-products of low value).
The other vegetable products contemplated in the present formulation are: The straw of both wheat and barley or of any cereal and the straw of miscanthus.
A third essential element of the litter according to the invention is diatomaceous earth, preferably DIATOMEE unicellular algae, which is usually used in the filtration and pharmaceutical industry. In addition to being easily disposed of, it allows the cat litter according to the invention to be given the ability to strongly reduce odors when the cat goes to urinate. In fact, the DIATOMEEE are able to break down the ammonia contained in the urine, responsible for the bad smell that not only makes the product unpleasant for those who must remove it after use but also that it can be used exclusively outdoors and not in a closed place. Furthermore, the DIATOMEEE have a strong parasitic power also preventing the parasites that naturally form in cereals from developing and consequently contaminating the litter. Today, unfortunately, the biggest problem that plant litter presents is given by the natural infestation of parasites, which cyclically in summer occurs punctually.
The fourth element, CALCIUM SULFATE, is included in the formula as an antibacterial reinforcer for the catalyzing action of lime and sulfur that it carries out, and an inhibitor of the development of ammonia according to the equation
The fifth element CITRIC ACID is included in the formula as a strengthening and adjuvant of the action of the DIATOMEE, and is also introduced in the formulation for its anti-fermentation action, in fact the period of decay of the litter varies according to the percentage used, lengthening its times of use.
The purpose of the present invention is therefore to provide a material that is easy to dispose of for the user, allowing a zero impact on the environment, but which at the same time has a high absorbency and is able to eliminate even unpleasant odors, and which also has an anti-pollution value.
Without wishing to bind to any theory, it is assumed that the excellent properties of the composition as regards the liking of it, are mainly determined by the interaction between the components of the urine, Citric Acid and ammonia inhibiting Diatoms, thus breaking down the unpleasant odor and the antiparasitic action that they exert, finally from the calcium sulphate which significantly increases the degree of ammonia inhibition in the litter and then its action as an accelerator of compost maturation should not be underestimated, if the litter is disposed of in the compost Without however neglecting the non-waste of product determined by the strong agglomeration power of the Diatoms.
The ideal mixture to be used in the composition between the starch-based vegetable product and straw and / or miscanthus is in a ratio of 60% of starch-based vegetable product and 40% of straw and / or miscanthus.
Diatoms are used in the composition according to the invention in powder form in relation to the vegetable product based on starch and straw and / or miscanthus of 2.0-2.8%.
L’acido citrico viene impiegato nella composizione secondo l’invenzione in polvere in quantità pari ad un rapporto rispetto al prodotto vegetale a base amido e paglia e/o miscanthus di 0,1 -1,2%, Citric acid is used in the composition according to the invention in powder in quantities equal to a ratio of 0.1 -1.2% to the starch and straw and / or miscanthus based vegetable product,
The calcium sulfate according to the invention is used in the composition according to the invention in powder form in relation to the starch, straw and / or miscanthus based plant product of 1-1.8%.
Nella composizione secondo l’invenzione possono altresì venire aggiunti additivi quali deodoranti, aromi, profumi, coloranti. In the composition according to the invention, additives such as deodorants, aromas, perfumes, dyes can also be added.
The vegetable litter produced with the composition according to the invention is a granulate having an apparent density of 450-550 g / l, whose dimensions of the granulate vary from 1.2 mm to 6.0 mm. The size of the granulate so large has been foreseen to obtain a balance between the capacity of incorporation of both liquid and solid manure. In fact, the small granules are placed by the effect of gravity on the bottom of the box, preventing the urine from touching the bottom of the container, absorbing the maximum percentage of liquids.
The granule of the litter is generally prismatic in shape, has an absorbent capacity of 190% of the weight of the finished product, is very light, inert and gives off a pleasant, clean smell.
Being made up of a composition based on plant materials, it is easily disposed of as it can be thrown in the bathroom without compromising in any way the purification systems even if bacteria are used.

Now follows an example of realization of the production cycle of the composition according to the invention by way of example as well as of realization of the final granulated product containing said composition.
Now follows an example of realization of the production cycle of the composition according to the invention by way of example as well as of realization of the final granulated product containing said composition.
The corn from the fields is placed in silos and then sent by conveyor belt to a mill for crushing into flour. The straw and / or mlscanthus coming from the deposit with a special high-speed mill with rotating blades is finely chopped into small fragments of 1-2 mm. Subsequently, both the corn coming from the crushing mill and the chopped straw are sent by means of a transport screw to a mixer for its mixing, the optimal proportion is 60% of corn and 40% of straw on the total of the mixture, between other, the various percentages between the starch-based vegetable product and straw and / or miscanthus can be varied, without the product having to undergo quality variations, the only difference that occurs is in the variation of the apparent specific weight. At the same time, the plant product mixture based on starch and straw and / or miscanthus will also be added with citric acid, diatoms, calcium sulphate, in the right proportions as shown in the relative claims. A further transport screw will send the mixed product with additives to a press for the formation of the pellets, subsequently from the press, always with a conveyor belt, the pellets will be sent to a toothed roller granulator for the formation of the granules (by adjusting the distance of the cutting rollers yes the size of the granules can vary). An auger will send the granules to a vibrating screen which, according to the nets used, you can select the size of the granules that will be used as cat litter, and the dust that will naturally form as a result of sieving, will always be sent with a transport screw to the starting dicer and so it will be entirely reused. The most suitable sieving nets according to the invention have for the formation of the final product a net having holes of 1.2 mm size for the under screening, for the over screening a net with 6.0 mm holes.
From the vibrating screen, the granules of the right size will be sent by conveyor belt to a packaging plant. It is important to note that no waste is produced during processing, as is the case with normal mineral bedding. Furthermore, starch-based products are an easily renewable source as they are products of simple cultivation and like wheat straw and / or miscanthus straw. It is evident from the above description and from the nature of the components used that the impact on the environment it turns out to be practically non-existent.
The present invention has been described with reference to some embodiments by way of example, but variations may be made concerning the excipients used without however departing from the scope of protection as indicated in the attached claims.
