Le note valvole di non ritorno hanno l'inconveniente di tendere, anche in condizione disinserita, alla formazione di rumori, dato che i loro elementi di chiusura vengono trasformati in vibrazioni per via delle pulsazioni dei gas di scarico presenti.Con la nuova valvola di non ritorno, questo inconveniente viene evitato.La nuova valvola di non ritorno si contraddistingue per il fatto che un elemento di limitazione è regolabile in direzione dell'elemento di chiusura per mezzo di un dispositivo di regolazione ad azionamento pneumatico e rispettivamente elettrico, bloccando l'elemento di chiusura chiudendo l'aria secondaria In posizione di chiusura.Tali valvole di non ritorno trovano impiego nella riduzione di veleni nel gas di scarico di motori a combustione interna.
