Abstract

The clutch-and-brake unit with single hydropneumatic control is for a mechanical press, and comprises a brake and a friction clutch mounted on the flywheel pulley. It has a pair of synchronised jaws (15,16) with friction linings (23,24,26,27) on the inside and outside surfaces acting against an external clutch drum (25) and an internal brake drum (28), the latter fixed to the press body. The jaws are mounted on a single disc keyed to the press shaft (2) and actuated by a single ram (14) simultaneously releasing the brake and engaging the clutch. Adjustable springs (17-22) acting in opposition to the ram exert a constant locking pressure on the jaws on the shaft.
