Abstract

The system includes an expansion chamber with sound damping elements an explosive after burner with baffles, an air inlet arrangement and a final pulsating combustion zone is discharging into an outlet pipe. Following the explosive zone is an extended channel which increases in section, and before the outlet pipe is a line connected to atmosphere to reduce pressure peaks, through which air is pumped, and which pass cooling air at higher motor speeds. The afterburner chamber has perforated double walls symmetrically positioned inside non perforated walls. These are combined with a thermally insulating dielectric layer and an end wall which forms an impact surface controlling the circulation of the gases. Inside the tube and impact surfaces is a zone forming an ignition path switched to synchronise with the engine ignition.
