Abstract
An axial flow threshing apparatus has a rotor in a cylindrical housing to which crop is fed by an auger in a housing. The rotor has an infeed portion with helical flights 54, a transition portion with rasp bars 64, a threshing portion with rasp bars 78 and a separator portion. Axial feed and agitation of the crop are controlled by blades 72 (transition portion) and 86 (threshing and separating portions). The blades lean in the feed direction and their major surfaces therefore play little part in the feed action. The outer edges of the blades are skewed relative to the circumferential direction in the sense which provides axial feed. In the case of the blades 86 the skew arises from bodily skewing the blades. In the case of the blades 72 the blades taper off in radial depth towards their rotationally leading edges. This gives the required skew of the edge as a result of the lean of the blades. <IMAGE>
