Abstract

The wind-operated turbine has a tubular housing (10) tapering from at least one end. This incorporates a section with fixed guide vanes (20), and a vaned rotor (21), followed by further fixed guide vanes (32). The rotor is coaxial to the housing, and is coupled to an output shaft (30), while the housing slews on a vertical axis. There can be a series of fixed vanes following the rotor, while the housing has a guide tube (18) slewing it into the wind. The housing can have two tapering end sections and two contra-rotating rotors, each preceded and followed by a fixed guide vane and coupled by reduction gears to the output shaft.
