Abstract

A flexible coupling with a rubber joining elements, giving protection against overloads is of simple construction and easily installed. The joining element (1) is similar in shape to a tyre with each edge (2, 3) formed as a continuous vee belt. Both hubs are in two parts to facilitate assembly. A hub element (6, 9) drives an inner flange (5, 8) through formed teeth. An outer flange (11, 12) screws over the hub element. Both flanges together make a vee groove. Adjusting the friction grip between flanges and rubber joining element determines the overload which causes relative slipping between the components of the coupling.
