Abstract

The purpose of the present invention is to provide a novel hydrolase which can be used for efficiently producing a (1S 2S) 1 alkoxycarbonyl 2 vinylcyclopropanecarboxylic acid which is a compound useful as an intermediate for the synthesis of a therapeutic agent for hepatitis C through the hydrolysis of a dialkyl 2 vinylcyclopropane 1 1 dicarboxylic acid with an enzyme. The present invention provides a hydrolase protein which comprises an amino acid sequence represented by any one of SEQ ID NO:2 to SEQ ID NO:5 and which has an activity of catalyzing the reaction of the conversion of diethyl 2 vinylcyclopropane 1 1 dicarboxylic acid to (1S 2S) 1 ethoxycarbonyl 2 vinylcyclopropanecarboxylic acid with higher selectivity than that of a protein comprising the amino acid sequence represented by SEQ ID NO:1.
