Claims (1)

1. CLAIMS 1. 6-Phenyl-3-methyl-4-amino-5-H-l , 2 ,'4-triazin-5-ones of the general formula in which n is 1, 2 or 3 and X is halogen, alkyl or alkoxy with, in either case, up to 6 carbon atoms , halogenomethyl with 1 to 3 halogen atoms or nitro, the substituents X being selected independently of one another when n is 2 or 3, with the proviso that when n is 1 X cannot be a methyl, methoxy or chlorine substituent in the p-position 2. Compositions for combating weeds in areas of beet cultivation comprising a compound of formula I in Claim 1 in admixture with a diluent or carrier. 3. A method of combating weeds in areas of beet cultivation, which comprises applying to the weeds or their habitat a compound of formula I in Claim 1 alone or in the form of a composition according to Claim 2. 4. A method of combating weeds in areas of beet cultivation, which comprises applying to the weeds or their habitat a compound of the formula given in Claim 1, in which X is a straight-chain or branched alkyl or alkoxy radical with 1 to 4 carbon atoms, fluorine, chlorine, trichloromethyl , trifluoromethyl or nitro, and n is 1 or 2 provided that when n is 1 X is not a methyl, methoxy or chlorine substituent in p-position, alone or i admixture with a diluent or carrier. \ 42271/2 5 '· method of combating weeds in areas of beet cultivation, which comprises applying to the weeds or their habitat the compound of the formula alone or in admixture with a diluent or carrier. 6. A method of combating weeds in areas of beet cultivation, which comprises applying to the weeds or their habitat the compound of the formula alone or in admixture with a diluent or carrier. 7. A method according to any of claims 1 to 6 in which a composition is used containing from 0.0001 to 10$ of the active compound, by weight. , 8· -A method according to claim 7 in which a composition is used containing from 0.01 to 1$ of the active compound, by weight. 9. A method according to any of claims 1 to 8 in which the active compound is one of those hereinbefore mentioned in the Examples . 0 · Beet crops protected from damage by weeds by being grown in areas in which immediately prior to and/or during Le A 14 339 - 17- the time of the growing a compound of the formula given in any of claims 1 to $ was applied alone or in admixture with a diluent or carrier.
