1399671 Plant growth regulants NIPPON SODA CO Ltd 6 April 1973 [11 April 1972 18 July 1972 (2) 19 July 1972 (3)] 16534/73 Heading C1B [Also in Division C2] Compounds of Formula III where X is H or Br, A is a carbonyl or sulphonyl group, R is an alkyl or alkenyl group of not more than 6 carbon atoms, and R 1 is an alkyl, alkenyl or alkoxy group of not more than 6 carbon atoms, a halomethyl, cyclopropyl or phenoxy group, a phenyl group with 0, 1 or 2 substituents selected from methyl, methoxy, nitro and halide, or a phenoxymethyl group with 0, 1 or 2 substituents selected from halogen and methyl (see Division C2), are used as regulators of plant growth. They may be applied to plant soil in compositions with liquid or solid carriers. Uses include retarding the growth and inhibiting flowering of lawn grass, inhibiting the growth of buds in broad leaf crops, preventing sucker growth of tobacco or chrysanthemum and preventing useless leaf growth of fruit trees or beans.
