Claims (7)
1. A moisture soil-testing device comprising a source of radiation, a device for detecting the radiation after it has been diffused in a soil under test, a probe containing the source and the detector, means for moving the probe, inter alia in a well formed i the soil, and measuring means for determining th intensity of the radiation detected at each position of th probe, or for determining a variable dependent upon the aforementioned intensity, characterised in that it also comprises means for recording the results supplied by the measuring means and parameters associated with each measurement, and means for automatically controlling a cycle or a number of successive cycles of measuring and recording operations in each of which, inter alia, the driving means are actuated so as to move the probe for a predetermined step or distance, and the measuring and recording means are actuated.

A device according to Claim 1, characterised in that it comprises setting-up means for assigning adjustable values to various parameters including the following: the distance or step which the probe moves between two measurements, the number of steps per cycle, the number of cycles, the time between two successive cycles, a programmed above-ground height corresponding to the distance between the position of the probe during the last measurement in the well and a reference position outside the well, and a true above-ground height corresponding to the distance between th top of the well and the surface of the ground.
3. device according to claim 1 or 2, characterised in that the driving means comprise a cable for suspending the probe in the well and a winch' for the cable.

A device according to any one of claims 1 to 3, characterised in that the. detector supplies pulses at a frequency proportional to the intensity of the radiation received, the measuring means comprise a scale for counting the pulses from the detector, and the measurement made is ofr the number of pulses counted in a given adjustable time or of the time required for a given adjustable number of pulses to occur.
5. A device according to claim 4·, characterised in that the aforementioned adjustable time or adjustable number is one of the parameters which may be set up by the setting-up means, recorded by the setting-up means and recorded by the recording means.
6. A device according to any one of claims 1 to 3, characterised in that the measurements are stored as a signal, for regulating an irrigation flow rate.
