Claims (17)
1. A floater having electronic measuring, controlling and/or transmitting equipment contained therein, comprising a floater body of polyurethan foam having closed cells and an apparent density of at least 200 kg/m', this floater body surrounding the electronic equipment and being surrounded in its turn by a skin of polyethylene havin a specific density of 0.90 to 0.95 grams/cm .
2. A floater as claimed in claim. 1, wherein the body of polyurethan foam has an apparent density of 300 to 375 kg/m3.
3. A floater as claimed in claim , wherein the poly-ethylene skin has a specific densit of 0.90 to 0.92 g/cm .
4. A floater as claimed in any of claims 1-3, wherein the polyethylene skin has a thickness of 1 to 5 millimeters and preferably of 2 to 3 millimeters.
5. A floater as claimed in any of claims 1-4, where in the body of polyurethan foam forms an integral part.
6. A floater as claimed in any of claims 1-4, wherein the body of polyurethan foam is composed of interconnected, moulded pieces.
7. A floater as claimed in any of claims 1-5, wherein the polyethylene skin forms an integral part.
8. A floater as claimed in any of claims 1-5, wherein the polyethylene skin is composed of interconnected, moulded pieces.
9. A method of manufacturing a floater as claimed in claim 1 comprising the following steps: forming a body wr of polyuxethan foam having closed cells and an apparent density of at least 200 around electronic equipment and forming a polyethylene skin having a specific density of 0.90 to 0.95 g/cm around the resulting "body of poly-urethan foam.
10. A method as claimed in claim 9, wherein the "body of polyurethan foam is formed as an integral part by foaming in a mould.
11. 1 . A method as claimed in claim 9, wherein the "body of polyurethan foam is formed by applying prefabricated moulded pieces of polyurethan foam onto and around the electronic equipment and joining them together.
12. ·. A method as claimed in claim 11, wherein air occlusions between the body of polyurethan foam and the electronic equipment are prevented by means of an epoxy resin adhesive or polyurethan resin adhesive.
13. A method as claimed in claims 1 or 12, wherein the pieces of the body are joined together by means of an epoxy resin adhesive or polyurethan resin adhesive.
14. A method as claimed in claim 9, wherein the polyethylene skin is formed as an integral part by means of injection moulding*
15. A method as claimed in claim 9, wherein the polyethylene skin is formed by app¾ing prefabricated moulded pieces of polyethylene onto and around the body of polyurethan foam and joining them together.
16. 6. A method as claimed in claim 15, wherein the moulded pieces of polyethylene skin are slipped around the polyurethan foam body.
17. method as claimed in claim 16, wherei the pieces of polyethylene skin are slipped on in stretch condition. 18, A method as claimed in any of claims 15-17 > wherein the pieces of polyethylene skin are joined to gether by means of heat-sealing or by an adhesive . composition.
