Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain film which is suitable for gusset packaging and in which there is a difference in heat-seal strength between the surface and the back, by a method wherein both sides of a plastic film are laminated with a low-melting resin and one side of the resulting composite film is subjected to corona discharge treatment.
CONSTITUTION: Both sides of a plastic film (e.g. polypropylene film) are laminated with a low-melting resin (e.g. ethylene-propylene random copolymer contg. 1W 7wt% ethylene) by a conventional method. One side of the resulting composite film is subjected to corona discharge treatment at a wetting index of 33W55dyne/cm in order to lower the heat-seal strength of the treated side and to provide a difference in the heat-seal strength between said side and another side.
EFFECT: The desired difference in heat-seal strength can easily be provided by selecting a treating condition.
USE: Packaging film such as overlap packaging.
