Description

METHOD AND MEANS FOR THE ERECTION AND CONNECTION OF PREFABRI CATED WALLS OF BUILDINGS 3775VI* *? The present invention relates to the erection of buildings from precast concrete wall slabs.
In erecting buildings from precast wall slabs the technique applied is roughly the followings All wal slabs are erected with the aid of mechanical means · if necessary - and each one is pro ed up by two appropriate telescopic struts , each anchored to the ground and to the precast wall slab's surface so as to be held firmly in the desired position , until the celling slab or floor of the successive s torey is cast or laid in place thereby connecting the walls or crea ting the possibility of such connection and the structure is deemed self-supporting in all three dimensions and non-collapsible. Only then the struts can be removed and the walls s tand on the founda tions , '\ or wha tever the case may be , without any need for further props or other supports . For the propping up tens and sometimes hundreds of expensive telescopic struts are required.
Xt is the object of the present invention to simplify the method referred to above and. to accelerate the erecting process of precast wall slabs , and to create a permanent and firm horizonta l bond also between said wall slabs which is lacking in most building methods .
I have therefore devised a method which does away with the need for telescopic props and supports holding the walls temporarily in position until a firm connection between them has been achieved. In my new method temporary and rather insubstantial supports for the fir st According to the invention the precast wall slabs are provided on the upper part of each of the side edges thereof with a tongue-like projecting flat metal body, the said body being provided with a hole through which a pin can be passed* Thus when two wall slabs are put in place to form a right angle at the corner of a room* the two outwardly projecting tongues are in superposed position and a pin can be passed through! both of them* Once this has been done the two wall slabs are already connected and remain in position and do not tumble over or fall down since they mutually support one another. Ail subsequently erected wall slabs are connected by the same means to the first above mentioned pa r and/or to each other.
The distance between the two holes in tongues at opposite edge faces of a s ab determines the length or to In performin the erecting process aoco dlng to my invention, the first of the precast wall slabs is temporarily propped up for a short period until the second wail slab is placed in position and the said pin is passed through the holes in the two superposed tongues. The following wall slabs are added to the already standing ones without any need for temporary props.
The invention will now be described with reference to the annexed drawings. 3775**Λ Figs. 1 and 2 are fractional perspective views, of the corner portions of two -wall slabs provided with the projecting tongue-like body according to my invention..
Pig. 3 illustrates schematically $he, corner of ,ai, building or room formed by two walls erected and ■ temporarily connected by the tongue-like, body according to the invention, this figure being a plan view of two walls-* . ·. : '<< ' ;..); ' ... .
Pig, 4 is a view analogous to Fig. 3 applied to the case where each wall is formed of two wall slabs disposed one against the othe ; and ; nclosing a hollow space between the two slabs.
Turning now to Pigs. 1 and 2 the wall slabs . indicated by numerals 1 and are precast in the conventional manner but with tongue-like bodies 11 and 12 embedded in the slab and later lly extending out of an edge faoe thereof. As can be seen in Pig. 2 the, tongue 12 is embedded in the slab 2 and: is positioned in a recess 3 in the face of the wall slab. Thus, it is possible to position the two slabs 1 and 2, as, indicated in Pig. 3, to form a right; angle with the tongues 11 and 12 in superposed, position. Each of the tongues 11 and' 12 has a hole 13 through which a pin can be passed once the wall slabs are erected and two holes are in register with one another., Now the so obtained connection may be covered by concrete cast into the recess 3 although this is not absolutely necessary.'-' ' · . ', · < ,·..-.<■· "'-·,'''. ·■ , ·!'.'. ' It will easily be understood that in order to connect two walls by the means Just described it will not be necessar to em lo s supporting structures which hold the walls until any diditjg or t -er operations are concluded. It is <·'* sufficien to use props or struts which; hold the first;,? wall unit .only the second wall unit is placed against ' its edge and connected therewith. · Once this has. been done the two' wall, units standing in> angula rel tio to; ·' one another support each other and further wall Units may be erected and connected to the two first; ones in the manner described. So erected wall units may be further connected by whatever conventional means. However, such further connection is not absolutely and always necessary The wall slabs have a certain weight and due to this have a firm stand on the floor or the foundations It would thus be sufficient to seal the narrow gap formed by two adjoining walls by means a sealing compound as conventionally used in the building trade* The application of the invention :to.the construction of a wall comprising two wall skins or two thin slabs is shown in Fig. ; here the two inner slabs 20,21 are erected in the manner described and connected with one another by the tongues 200 and 210..
Once these two inner wall elements, are in position, the outer slabs indicated by the numerals 23,22 can be placed against the inner wall elements , being held in whatever conventional way.
Obviously it would be possible to reverse the order and first erect the two outer wall slabs 22,23 to be followed by the erection of the inner slabs; or all four slabs ca be erected simultaneously and connected together by means, of the protruding tongue 3775** thus excluding any thermal bridges between the two skins of a wall.
Once two walls according to Pig. 3 or to Pig. have been erec ted and connected , further walls can be joined to the erected ones to form complete rooms or storeys .
It will be seen tha t in precast concrete buildings erected according to the method described and fitted with the respective new connecting means , the joints between wa lls , being so called "dry joints" , will act as constructive links , which render the building more resistant to ear thquakes or ground movement, a fea ture which is absent in moat precast concrete buildin structures .
