Description
SURFACE-BEAM TO SCAFFOLD STRUCTURE PIPE RETAINER FIELD OF THE DISCLOSED TECHNIQUE The disclosed technique relates to construction scaffold structures in general, and to methods and devices for securing surfaces to construction scaffold bars/pipes, in particular.
BACKGROUND OF THE DISCLOSED TECHNIQUE Construction scaffold structures are known in the art. They are attached to either the inner or outer walls of a building wall, and typically include walking surfaces on which construction workers can perform work relating to that building wall.
A scaffold (e.g., either mobile or static) or staging is a temporary structure used to support a work crew and materials to aid in the construction, maintenance and repair of buildings, bridges, infrastructure and all other man-made structures or natural walls, facades and ceilings, underground and upper ground, include industrial elements . Scaffolds are widely used on site to get access to heights and areas that would be otherwise hard to get to. Unsafe scaffolding has the potential to result in death or serious injury. Scaffolding is also used in adapted forms for formwork and shoring, grandstand seating, concert stages, access/viewing towers, exhibition stands, ski ramps, half pipes and art projects.
Reference is now made to Figures 1A-1C. Figure 1A is an illustration in perspective of a surface-beam to scaffold retaining mechanism, generally referenced 10, known in the art as a limpet clamp.
Figure 1B is a side view of mechanism 10, as mounted between a surface beam and a scaffold pipe. Figure 1C is an illustration in perspective of mechanism 10, as mounted between surface beams and a scaffold pipe.
With reference to Figure 1A, mechanism 10 includes a curved plate 12, a top washer 14 and a threaded fastener 16 (e.g., a screw), coupling between curved plate 12 and a top washer 14. With reference to Figures 1B and 1C, top washer 14 is located on the top surface beams 22, curved plate 12 is partially covering scaffold pipe 20 and is also attached to the bottom surface of beams 22. In order to install mechanism 10, a first user inserts threaded fastener 16 through washer 14, in the space between beams 22. A second user attaches curved plate 12 to pipe and attaches a designated area in curved plate 12 to the bottom surface of beams 22. Thereafter, the second user inserts threaded fastener through a hole in the designated area in curved plate 12. A mating nut (Figure 1B)is tightened it in order to secure beams 22 and pipe 20, by means of mechanism 10. Removal of mechanism 10 is to be conducted in a similar manner, but in reverse order.
Japanese patent publication No. 3151909, is directed at a fastening element, for securing a single side beam to a pipe, made of a single piece of wire, circling the entire pipe and securing the beam from both sides of the pipe.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS The disclosed technique will be understood and appreciated more fully from the following detailed description taken in conjunction with the drawings in which: Figure 1A is an illustration in perspective of a surface-beam to scaffold retaining mechanism, known in the art as a limpet clamp; Figure 1B is a side view of the mechanism of Figure 1A, mounted between a surface beam and a scaffold pipe; Figure 1C is an illustration in perspective of the mechanism of Figure 1A, mounted between the surface beams and attached to the scaffold pipe; Figures 2A-2C are schematic illustrations of a surface-beam to scaffold retainer, constructed and operative in accordance with an embodiment of the disclosed technique.
Figures 3A-3B are schematic illustrations of a surface-beam to scaffold retainer, constructed and operative in accordance with another embodiment of the disclosed technique; Figure 4A is a schematic illustration in perspective of a surface- beam to scaffold r`etainer, constructed and operative in accordance with an embodiment of the disclosed technique; Figure 4B is a side view illustration of the surface-beam to scaffold retainer of Figure 4A; and, Figure 4C is front view illustration of the surface-beam to scaffold retainer of Figure 4A.
