Description

Ventilation apparatus Wimbock Besitz GmbH, C. 95891 Ventilation arrangement Description The present invention relates to a ventilation arrangement for ventilating rooms, in particular those with a moist and/or fatty atmosphere such as kitchens or the like, comprising a substantially horizontal collecting flue having at least three side walls and preferably being arranged in the ceiling edge region of the respective room, the collecting flue being connected to a suction air source, and a flue opening extending along the entire collecting flue length and into which inserts such as separators for particles or drops contained in the exhaust, closing shutters or the like are releasably insertable, the edges of the flue openings being provided with reinforcements .
Ventilation arrangements of this kind are long known in various forms .
In the case of one of these ventilation arrangements, the walls of the collecting flue consist of a strip-like sheet metal parts which are connected to one another by profiles of aluminium. In this known construction, also the reinforcements in the regions of the edges of the channel openings are formed with appropriately shaped profiles. In this way, the edges are provided with high stability and make an easily sealable installation of the inserts such as separators, closing shutters or the like possible. - - 1 1 2025 / 1 Japanese Patent No. 52-73539 discloses a connecting member for a ventilation channel comprising a frame body integrally formed with bent connecting pieces fitted at the end of connecting surfaces for connecting to ventilation channels or for passage openings.
French Patent No. 2654199 discloses an extruded profile serving as a support profile for isolating plates with openings suitable for receiving anchoring devices in the form of screws so as to retain the profiles avoiding throughgoing holes in the profiles. However, these profiles are not used as collecting flues, in spite a similar cross-section.
It is the object of the present invention to provide a completely new ventilation arrangement which for a simple design and comparable stability makes do without the use of profiles .
This object is solved in accordance with the present invention in that the reinforcements are formed in one piece from the material of the collecting flue by cants facing towards the collecting flue interior.
The invention is based on the concept of replacing the work-intensive profiles with cants in the region of the edges. Cants are already known for the purpose of stiffening or reinforcement in sheet metalwork. However, the opinion prevails that cants at the edges of sheet metal workpieces do not make precise alignment and flat surface formation possible to the extent, for example, when using extruded aluminium profiles. These doubts particularly apply to cants of greater length which must be realized in collecting flues of the type discussed here, and in particular in the case when the cants are directed inwardly, i.e. arranged in the regions in which confined spaces exist.
Tests have now shown that cants directed inwardly can be surprisingly precisely aligned and formed with respect to surface formation also over long lengths in such a manner that profiles are not needed in this region and thus, without functional disadvantages, a considerably simplified and cheap structure can be achieved for such ventilation arrangements.
Basically, the cants can be made in any desirable form adapted to the respective use. However, a particularly advantageous embodiment is provided if the reinforcements made in this way are formed out of the material of the collecting flue by twice canting respectively about 90°.
It is particularly the case for large kitchens that ventilation arrangements of the type discussed here not only have a single straight collecting flue, but rather a collecting flue consisting of at least two straight flue sections mostly connected to one another at an angle of 90°. It is advantageous in such an arrangement if the flue sections are mitred and butt-welded in their mutually opposing connecting regions.
These connecting regions were also provided up to now in ventilation arrangements of the known type with connecting profiles, the arrangement and sealing of which in relation to the collecting flue always having required a certain effort.
The flue sections of the collecting flue can basically be adapted to all the respective spatial conditions, in particular with respect to the arrangement of the cooking positions. In most cases, however, the collecting flue consists of four straight flue sections which are respectively joined together at an angle of 90° to form a rectangular or quadratic ring-shaped flue arrangement.
However, if necessary, for particular uses, only three straight flue sections can be connected to one another respectively at an angle of 90° to form a U-shaped arrangement.
The design according to the invention is basically suitable for collecting flues of every cross-section. However, it is particularly advantageous if the cross-section is substantially triangular and the flue opening is arranged in the region of the hypotenuse of the cross-section to form an arrangement inclined substantially towards the centre of the room.
For further explanation and better understanding of the invention, an exemplified embodiment is described in more detail in the following with reference to the enclosed drawings, in which: Fig. 1 shows a greatly simplified and partially broken away embodiment of a ventilation arrangement for ventilating rooms according to the invention, and Fig. 2 schematically shows a cross section through a collecting flue of the embodiment according to Fig. 1..
In the embodiment shown in Fig. 1 of a ventilation arrangement according to the invention for ventilating a kitchen, there is a collecting flue consisting in total of four flue sections 1, 2, 3 and 4 which are connected to one another respectively at an angle of 90° to form a rectangular ring-shaped flue arrangement. Each- flue section 1 to 4 consists of three side walls 5, 6 and 7, which results in a substantially triangular cross-section of the collecting flue.
The arrangement is such that the side wall 6 forming one cathetus extends along the ceiling region of the kitchen, i.e. horizontally, while the connecting outer side wall 5 is parallel to the wall of the kitchen, i.e. aligned vertically, and the side wall 7 forming the hypotenuse of the triangular cross- section extends at an angle, i.e. faces the kitchen interior .
The collecting flue formed of the four flue sections 1 to 4 is connected with the suction air source (not shown) by means of connection piece 8 as indicated in Fig. 2 with arrow 9.
The side wall 7 of each flue section 1 to 4 facing the kitchen interior is provided along the entire length of the respective channel section with a channel opening 10 which is substantially parallel to the longitudinal extension of the respective channel section and is provided in the region of it edges respectively with a reinforcement 11. In the present example, the reinforcements 11 are formed by cants 12 (cf . Fig 2) facing the connecting flue interior, the cants being formed in one piece from the material of the collecting flue, i.e. it consists of the material of the respective side wall 7.
As Fig. 2 shows, the reinforcements in the present example are formed out of the material of the collecting flue by canting twice respectively about 90°.
As can be seen in Fig. 1, the channel opening 10 can be covered by different inserts. In the present example, one part of these inserts consists of so-called closing shutters 13 which cover the flue openings 10 in those regions in which no suctioning airstream is desired. So-called separators by means of which the particles or droplets contained in the exhaust can be separated and fed to a collecting trough (not shown) or the like are installed between the closing shutters 13. These separators 14 can be designed in various ways. For example, ,such a separator is shown in the German Patent Specification P 27 20 201. " As revealed, tests surprisingly showed that the cants 12 can be formed in such a manner that a precisely aligned and easily sealable support for the inserts can be also provided along great lengths.
Figs. 1 and 2 only show a simple embodiment of such a cant. The cants 12 can naturally be formed in any desirable manner and, in addition to their support function for the inserts, can possibly also provide an abutting and centering function.
In the embodiments shown in Figs. 1 and 2, the side wall 7 facing the kitchen interior is canted even more in its upper region so that a support surface is formed for the sealing panels 15. This results in a more trapezoidal cross-section of the flue sections.
As an alternative to the seats for the support of the sealing panels 15, if necessary, rectangular, trapezoidal or other flue sections can be mounted in the region of the upper end of the side wall 7 which serve to supply fresh air or to mount lighting equipment.
