Abstract

Plants are grown in shaped suitable substrates 16 which rest on a support 10. Between the support 10 and the substrates 16 are provided two nets 17, 18. Periodically the roots are sheared either by moving the nets relative to one another, or by the action of a blade or wire 14 moving between the nets.
