1497836 Stabilized steroid compositions ER SQUIBB & SONS INC 29 May 1975 [13 June 1974] 23485/75 Heading A5B Stabilized steroid compositions useful in the treatment of inflammatory diseases of the skin and psoriasis comprises from 0.1% to 0.5% by weight of 9 α - fluoro - 21 - chloro - 11#, 16α, 17α, trihydroxypregn - 4 - ene - 3, 20 - dione, 16, 17 - acetonide, 0.005 to 0.2% by weight of an antioxidant selected from propyl gallate, butylated hydroxytoluene, butylated hydroxyanisole, sodium bisulphite, sodium metabisulphite and ascorbic acid; and polyethylene glycol or a polyethylene glycol ester both having a polyethylene glycol molecular weight of from 200 to 7500 may be prepared by dissolving the steroid and antioxidant in the polyethylene glycol or polyethylene glycol ester. The composition may further include an oleaginous material e.g. mineral oil thickened with polyethylene or white petrolatum, a chelating agent such as disodium ethylene diamine tetraacetic acid and/or water. The compositions may be applied topically in the form of lotions or ointments. [GB1497836A]
