Abstract

1478480 Coating fibres or filaments BAYER AG 25 Nov 1974 [28 Nov 1973] 50863/74 Heading DIL Fibres or filaments are coated, particularly with spinning preparations, by contact with liquid issuing from a curved slot. As shown in Fig. 5 the curved slot 2-.may-be formed between two members 10 and 11, with the fibre 1 running perpendicularly thereto. The slot 2 is fed with liquid e.g. an oil-in-water emulsion from chamber 4 (Fig. 1) within container 9, the liquid being supplied thereto through line 3. The liquid may be applied as a foam by supplying gas into the chamber through frit 6 from line 5. Several fibres may be treated simultaneously as depicted in Figs. 4a, 4b and 4c (not shown). In Fig. 4b the slot is divided into channels (14) by partitions (12). In Fig. 4c the fibres are disposed in individual curved recesses (16) separated by shaped partitions (13). [GB1478480A]
