1451554 Purification of sulphurous fumes COMPAGNIE INDUSTRIELLE DES TELECOMMUNICATIONS CIT-ALCATEL 19 July 1974 [26 July 1973 14 May 1974 17 June 1974 26 June 1974] 32179/74 Heading C1A Combustion fumes are purified by the elimination of sulphur dioxide, and concomitant production of sulphuric acid therefrom is effected by a process comprising washing the fumes and gases with an aqueous solution of a manganese, cobalt or nickel salt in the presence of oxygen, forming an intermediate complex of the sulphitic type which, in the presence of oxygen, oxidizes sulphur dioxide. The Mn, Co and Ni salts specified are sulphates.
