1460303 Herbicidal compositions ELI LILLY & CO 10 Dec 1973 [11 Dec 1972] 57230/73 Heading A5E The growth of germinating and emerging weeds in the soil of soybean crop land is inhibited by surface applying to the soil (a) from 0.05 to 2.0 1b per acre of a triazinone of formula: wherein Q is phenyl, C 3 -C 8 cycloalkyl or C 1 -C 6 alkyl and (b) from 0.5 to 6.0 1b per acre of a 2, 6-dinitroaniline of formula: wherein R<SP>1</SP> is C 2 -C 6 alkyl (optionally substituted with F, Br, Cl or -OCH 3 ), C 3 -C 6 alkenyl (optionally substituted with Cl), cyclopropylmethyl or cyclopropylethyl; R<SP>2</SP> is C 2 -C 6 alkyl (optionally substituted by F, Br, Cl or -OCH 3 ), C 3 -C 6 alkenyl (optionally substituted by Cl), cyclopropylmethyl, cyclopropylethyl or H, provided that when R<SP>2</SP> is H, R<SP>1</SP> is C 3 -C 6 alkyl; or R<SP>1</SP> and R<SP>2</SP> and the N to which they are attached form a C 3 -C 8 polymethyleneimino ring; R<SP>3</SP> is halogen, C 1 -C 3 alkoxy, cyano, C 1 -C 4 alkyl, F 1 -F 3 fluoromethyl, C 1 -C 2 alkoxy -C 1 -C 2 alkyl, (optionally substituted with Cl), C 1 -C 2 alkylsulphonyl or -SO 2 R<SP>4</SP>; R<SP>4</SP> is -NH 2 , azido, wherein R<SP>5</SP> and R<SP>6</SP> are C 1 -C 3 alkyl; or R<SP>5</SP> and R<SP>6</SP> together are a tetramethylene chain; m is 0 to 2; n is 3 to 5; R<SP>7</SP> is C 1 -C 2 alkyl; X is H, CH 3 , C 1 -C 2 alkoxy, Cl or amino (optionally substituted with C 1 or C 2 alkyl), and (c) an inert carrier. The triazinone may be 3- methylthio-4-amino-6-t-butyl-1, 2, 4-triazin-5- one and the dinitroaniline may be 3, 5-dinitro- N<SP>4</SP>, N<SP>4</SP>-dipropylsulphanilamide, 2, 6-dinitro-N- ethyl-N-methylallyl-α, α, α-trifluoro-p-toluidine or 2, 6-dinitro-N-(3-pentyl)-α, α, α-trifluoro-p-toluidine. The compounds may be applied concurrently or consecutively.
