Abstract
This invention relates to an apparatus for reverse osmosis comprising an elongate hollow pressure member and a membrane unit positioned within, but at least partly spaced from, the pressure member, the membrane unit comprising an elongate hollow flow layer each of the longitudinal surfaces of which flow layer is covered by a semi-permeable membrane, each of the end surfaces of the flow layer being covered with impermeable material or being sealed by contacting the pressure member, the apparatus also comprising means for introducing the fluid to be treated and means for discharging the permeate and the concentrate produced.
