1422221 2-Alkoxy-4,5-disubstituted benzamides SOC D'ETUDES SCIENTIFIQUES ET INDUSTRIELLES DE L'ILE-DE-FRANCE 1 June 1973 [2 June 1972 (2) 13 July 1972 (2) 5 April 1973] 26273/73 Heading C2C The invention comprises compounds of Formula I in which B is a C 1-4 alkyl or C 2-4 alkenyl radical; X is a hydrogen atom or a nitro, acylamino or amino group; Y is a hydrogen or halogen atom or a group of formula SO 2 R 2 wherein R 2 is an amino, monoalkylamino, dialkylamino, haloalkyl or C 1-5 alkyl group; n is 0, 1 or 2; p is 0 or 1; q is 0, 1 or 2; n + p + q is 0, 1, 2 or 3; and A is a radical of formula -NR<SP>3</SP>R<SP>4</SP> in which R<SP>3</SP> and R<SP>4</SP> are identical or different C 1-5 alkyl groups or together with the nitrogen atom form a nitrogen attached heterocycle, or a heterocyclic radical of Formula Ia wherein R is a C 1-4 alkyl or C 2-4 alkenyl radical and m is 0, 1, 2, 3 or 4 or a pharmaceutically acceptable acid addition or quaternary ammonium salt thereof which may be prepared by reacting a diamine of formula with CS 2 to produce a dithiocarbamic acid of formula treating the dithiocarbamic acid in a basic medium with a salt of a metal whose sulphide is insoluble in the reaction medium (e.g. lead acetate) or an ester of a haloformic acid (e.g. ethyl chloroformate) to produce an isothiocyanate of formula which is in turn condensed on a benzoic acid of Formula Ib and optionally reacting the product with a pharmaceutically acceptable mineral or organic acid or aliphatic or aromatic quaternizing agent. The compounds of Formula I have application in the pharmaceutical field having anti-emetic, digestive process modifying and psychotropic activity. [GB1422221A]
