Abstract

1368208 Dispensing mechanisms GENERAL FOODS Ltd 23 Jan 1973 [23 Feb 1972] 8464/72 Heading B8S A mechanism for dispensing flanged cups from a stack thereof comprises a base plate 1 having a discharge aperture 2, flanked by pinions 3 rotated by racks 7 carried by a reciprocal frame member 8, the pinions 3 carrying axially spaced and circumferentially staggered first and second detents 5, 5<SP>1</SP> and 6, 6<SP>1</SP> which support the stack of cups and release them on rotation of the pinions. The frame 8 carries a handle 8 and, opposite the handle, a double sided rack 12 engaged by pivotal pawls (10, Fig. 4) interconnected by a spring 11. The pawls (10) ensure that the frame must complete a full stroke before return movement. With the frame in the position shown the bottom cup is supported by the detents 6, 6<SP>1</SP>, the frame is then pulled to the right so that the bottom cup is released from the detents 6, 6<SP>1</SP> and supported by the detents 5, 5<SP>1</SP>, return of the frame to the original position causing the bottom cup to be released and the next cup to be supported by the detents 6, 6<SP>1</SP>. The top of the stack is engaged by a weighted disc 19 carried by an arm 18 slidable on a rod 17, the arm 18 when lowered engaging an indicator 21 to indicate the stack is exhausted. [GB1368208A]
