Abstract

A cup separator which is in the form of a rectangular box incorporating four separator cams all of which are driven by a geared tube ring located on the fitting pitch circle of the four cams. The cams provide a means of retaining the cups and when oscillating they separate the cups. <IMAGE>

Description

Cup separator This invention relates to a cup separator.
Cup separators are well known mechanisms which employ cams or levers or pivoted plates or sliding wedges driven by gears or push and pull movements. Some of the methods used result in a rather large mechanism in relation to the size of the cup.
According to the present invention the cups are separated by four cams with integral gear pinions. These cams are driven by a geared tube ring with four geared segments on its outer diameter. The geared tube ring also provides two plain segments to allow the fixing of the drive and return mechanism. The hollow centre of the geared tube ring provides a guide to the cups and also prevents the cups from being pulled down from below. The four cams and the geared tube ring are housed in a reetangular box which consists of an upper and a louver half.
The geared tube ring is located in a specially shaped hole in the lower half of the box while the four cams are held in position by both halves of the housing.
Aspecific embodiment of the invention will now be describe by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawings in which: Figure 1 shows a plan view of the cup separator with the upper half of the housing removed for clarity.
Figure 2 shows the cross section along the line AA and the relationship of the geared tube ring and the cams.
Figure 3 shows the elevation of the cup separator with the cups in position.

Claims (1)

  1. Claims
    A cup separator with four oscillating cams driven by a geared tube ring located on the inside of the fitting pitch circle of the four cams. The four cams are thus made to oscillate by the geared segments on the outer diameter of the geared tube ring.
    A cup separator with a geared tube ring which prevents the cups from being pulled down from below.
