Abstract

1379293 Battery cell interconnections SOC FULMEN and COMPAGNIE EUROPEENNE D'ACCUMULATEURS 9 Aug 1972 [10 Aug 1971] 37245/72 Heading H1B To make electrical connection between plates of like polarity in a cell, between sets of plates in adjacent cells and to the battery terminals 18, lugs 16 of the plates are passed through apertures in the battery casing into compartments 6 formed on the outside of the upper part of the casing wall, the compartments are filled with fusible granular conductive material 21 and the material is melted by displacing the battery along the length of the compartments past heat sources, e.g. induction coils 19. The fusible material may be lead or lead alloy. Insulating partitions 11 may be provided in the compartments (Fig. 2) to give the series arrangement shown. [GB1379293A]
