Abstract

Colouring of the surface of a chromium alloy which is immersed in an aqs. solns of chromic acid and sulphuric acid, is controlled by maintaining a potential difference between the surface of the alloya dn a reference electrode and removing the alloy from the soln when this potential difference alters by a definite degree from the predefined bending potential, the definite degree being related to the desired colour. Process enables a definite colour to be obtd. reproducibly on the surface of the chromium alloy without using visual control of the colouring process. [FR2143231A1]
