Abstract

1396031 Wells SHELL INTERNATIONALE RESEARCH MAATSCHAPPIJ NV 1 May 1972 [17 May 1971] 20152/72 Heading E1F Cellular micro-organisms which block the formations in earth formations or clog the liquid-conveying or liquid-containing means connected to wells are dissolved or dispersed by treatment with an aqueous solution containing at least one alkali metal hydroxide, a surfactant effective to disperse the outer cell wall of a fatty material containing lipoprotein and lipopolysaccharide and a chelating agent effective to disperse the inner cell wall of a rigid mucopeptide nature. The preferred surfactants are polyethoxylated aliphatic alcohol sulphates while chelating agents exemplified include polyaminopolycarboxylic acids, α-hydroxy acids and condensed polyphosphates. The treatment may be followed by a conventional acidising treatment. [GB1396031A]
