1295216 Hydrostatic extrusion ALLMANNA SVENSKA ELEKTRISKA AB 26 May 1971 [27 May 1970] 17157/71 Heading B3P An hydrostatic extrusion press of the type with a pressure cylinder 2 movable axially in a press stand 1 over a billet 36 and a die 10 before the cylinder is filled has a mandrel assembly composed of a headed mandrel 23, a holder 24 and a support tube 22. The assembly is permanently fixed in the cylinder and the tube limits the insertion of the die into the cylinder to position the die and the mandrel for tube extrusion. The support tube 22 takes up the forces exerted on the mandrel 23 during extrusion. An annular billet holder 30 is slidable on the mandrel 23. The billet holder 30 has a spring-biased relief valve 33 or a pair of elastomeric flanges (34), (35), Figs. 5 and 6 (not shown), so that initially the fluid pressure in the space 6b causes the billet holder to urge the die and the billet against a die holder 11 until the valve opens or the flanges deform.
