Abstract
Improved synthesis of Me2SO. c.f. Ullmanns Encyklopadie der technischen Chemie, Urban & Schwarzenberg Verlag, Munchen, 1955,6,429. The reaction can be carried out in an aqueous organic solvent e.g. Me2SO, AcOH tog. with a 5-80% solution of H2SO4 in H2O or of 5-30% NaOH-H2O, the reaction mixture contg. 1-10% electrolyte. Other solvents and electrolyte are also suitable. Conduits.:- pref. 0.01-0.22 Amp./cm2 (pref. 0.06 amp/cm2), at 0-10 deg. The product is free of Me2S. Solvent, e.g. for lacquers and acrylic fibres.
