Abstract

1,242,215. Hot water boilers. J. C. W. O'BRIEN. 9 Sept., 1968 [12 Sept., 1967], No. 41611/67. Heading F4A. In a domestic boiler having a casing 6 including a lagged water section 8 and an extension section 9 housing a burner 10, e.g. oil or gas, and ancillary equipment, the combustion chamber is a continuously curved tube 11 in the water section having its inlet and outlet facing the extension section. The sections 8 and 9 are separated by a partition 7 welded to the casing 6. The tube 11 may be provided with one or two semicircular tubes 21 and/or outwardly projecting fins 15. The casing 6 may be circular. The water section is adapted to be mounted in the cavity wall 5 of a dwelling with a short portion inside the dwelling covered by a square cover plate 16 finished by a stove enamelling or with a decorative laminate and carrying a thermostat, an indicating light and a switch. The extension section 9 exterior of the dwelling is provided with a louvred detachable cover 18. Water pipe connections 26 to the boiler are connected to pipes passing through the wall 5.
