Abstract
Benzyl- or isopropyl-benzene- substd. methyl-propargyl -ammonium-chlorides of formula (I) are prepd. by reacting an amine of formula (II) with a propargyl-halogenide of formula (III). In the formulae n is zero or 1, X is halogen, The reaction takes place in the presence of a water immiscible solvent, water and alkali. The amines of formula (II) and (IV) contained in the organic phase are reacted with water and with a qunaityt of an (in)organic acid in soln. of pH 0-6 equiv. to the amt. of amine (II) present in the reaction mixt. In the resulting two-phase mixt. the salt of the amine (II) transferes to the aq. phase, the two amines thus can be selectively sepd. by sepg. the phases. The amine (IV) remains in the organic phase; by adding hydrochloric acid the salt of formula
