Abstract

Concrete and cement mortars are rendered waterproof by a lime based additive mixed into the cement. The additive contains 28.4-85.2 preferably 39.6-73.84 wt.% dry and ground lime, to which a liquid hydrophobing agent and a liquid catalyst are added, at 3.35-10.75 preferably 4.69-8.71 wt.%. The additive comprises 2.25-6.75 preferably 3.15-5.85 wt.% hydrophobing agent and 1.1-3.3 preferably 1.54-1.86 wt.% catalyst. The mixture is homogenized by agitation, followed by adding under constant further agitation, 18.25-54.5 preferably 25.55-47.45 wt.% water. Once the chemical reaction is completed, the finished additive is dehydrated, removed and allowed to cool gradually. Finally the mixture is allowed to rest for 24-48 hours.
