ις μίαν μέθοδον παραγωγής σιδήρου, τα στάδια αναγωγής του σιδηρομεταλλεύματος διά κατεργασίας του μεταλλεύματος μετ' αναγωγικού υλικού το οποίον περιέχει ένα ανθρακούχον αναγωγικόν παράγοντα, υπό συνθήκας τοιαύτας ώστε να παράγεται υλικόν εκ σιδήρουυπό μεμερισμένην στερεάν μορφήν περιέχον ηνωμένονάνθρακα, ένθα το ρηθέν στάδιον αναγωγής επιτελείται εις μίαν υψηλήν θερμοκρασίαν ανεπαρκή να τήξη το παραγόμενον υλικόν εκ σιδήρου, το δε ρηθέν υλικόν εκ σιδήρου έχει μίαν θερμοκρασίαν άνω των 1350 βαθμών Φάρενχάϊτ, ως αύτη παράγεται κατά το ρηθέν στάδιον αναγωγής, ψύξεως του ρηθέντος εκ σιδήρου υλικού υπό κατ' ουσίαν μη οξειδωτικάς συνθήκας μέχρι μιάς θερμοκρασίας κάτω των 1200 βαθμών Φαρενχάϊτ, ουχί όμως ουσιαστικώς κάτω των 300 βαθμών Φαρενχάϊτ, με ένα ρυθμόν επαρκώς βραδύν προς παρεμπόδισιν της εμφανίσεως μαρτενσίτου εις αισθητήν ποσότηταεντός του υλικού, και είτα της αποτόμου ψύξεως του εκ σιδήρου υλικού δια την ουσιαστικήν περαιτέρωψύξιν τούτου μέχρι μιάς θερμοκρασίας επαρκώς χαμηλής προς αποφυγήν ταχείας οξειδώσεως εις την ατμόσφαιραν.In one method of producing iron, the reduction steps of the iron ore are by treating the ore with a reducing agent containing a carbonate reducing agent, under such conditions as to produce the iron-containing material in a divided free high temperature insufficient to melt the iron material produced, and said iron material having a temperature above 1350 degrees Fahrenheit, as it is produced during said reduction, cooling of said iron material to no temperatures below 1200 degrees Fahrenheit, but not substantially below 300 degrees Fahrenheit, at a rate sufficiently slow to prevent martensite from occurring substantially within the material, or from rapidly cooling the iron low BC to avoid rapid oxidation in the atmosphere.
