Abstract

A therapeutic tablet for lowering the blood sugar level comprises a sulphonyl urea compound of general formula <FORM:0999710/A5-A6/1> wherein R is methyl or chlorine and R1 is an alkyl, alicyclic, or heterocyclic group, and polyvinyl pyrrolidone. Specified sulphonyl urea compounds are tolbutamide, N-4-methyl-benzenesulphonyl - N1 - cyclopentylurea and N-4-methyl - benzenesulphonyl - N1 - hexamethyleneimino urea. Polyvinyl pyrrolidone may be added as an aqueous solution to the sulphonyl urea compound together with conventional inert non-caloric diluents.
